My wife took the tundra to Home Depot to pick up mulch and a drunk driver tried to turn onto a 1 way. Long story short, she t-boned him, truck got towed since the bumper was crumpled up and could no longer turn the wheels without pretty bad tire rub. It was clearly the other drivers fault.

My question is if anyone has tried to get the body shop/ insurance to replace the front with parts that would be from a TRD Pro or Sport. I was going to color match the front anyway since I have the chromed out limited. Would love to get that done If that’s even an option.

Sorry to hear of the accident.

That kind of thing depends on if the shop is willing to work with you. I once got hit in the rear, which pushed me into the car in front of me. Rather than replace the stock bumper on my Trooper, I told the shop to credit me for the work related to that fix and used the $ towards an ARB bumper that the shop installed. Worked out nice for me. So yes, I would certainly ask. Now would be the time for new grille, bumper, color match or whatever else you want.

That's a bummer for sure, but I don't see why a shop wouldn't do that. You might have to pay any price difference in the painted vs chrome parts, but it'll still be cheaper than full cost to chrome delete.

I'd suggest researching a diminished value claim to see if that's an option. You just took a major hit to resale value and some states let you pursue that loss. Don't agree to anything the insurance suggests without having it in writing and taking the time to THOROUGHLY review it.

If you receive a diminished value award, it should pretty much compensate for your added expenses. That is incentive to push the issue if you can.
