Hi guys, I have a basic question that I haven't been able to find a specific answer to. Basically, wondering if I could run some shims up front with my King 2.5 ext Coil overs with LSK UCAs. Currently I am completely maxed out on threads for my coil overs. I'm wondering if I can safely run shims or a block for the extra height so I can back off on the coil overs to give it a softer ride. Which I feel like I have seen done before, but have also heard mixed opinions on it. Also, since i'm here, i'm also curious about if it safe to just add the shims to my coil overs as they are maxed out so I could get 3.5" of height vs the 2.5" that the coil overs give you, would that be unsafe or not allow me to get an accurate alignment.

There are shims that are used with coilovers to correct the lean that the driver side has on some trucks. However, shims are not used with coilovers to gain additional height. It is never recommended to "stack" lift components. Adding shims and decreasing the height of the coilovers won't make the ride softer. To get 3 to 3.5", you would have to switch to a different set of coils such as Toytecs, Fat Bob's, etc. I have Toytec Alumas in my 2013. I am about 3.5 in the front an 2 in the rear and I sit level.

Yea , it will work. SAFE ? who knows.. I run a 1 inch spacer on top of a 6 inch RC coilover for a total of 7 inches. This truck tows our camper more then it goes to get groceries and I have no issues. Very smooth ride.

A lot of these OEM fit coilovers are designed to be set at a certain lift height. This is usually based around how much lift the front end can handle with steering and cv angles. If you start adding spacers on top of already lifted coilovers, you are now making full extension even longer, which is going to make those cv and steering angles even worse. Also, if you do not adjust the bump stop accordingly, you could very well bottom out the shock before hitting the bump stops. This could end badly.

Thank you all for the clarification, I figured it wasn't a GREAT idea but never saw a definitive answer.
