Is there any benefit to doing a 50/50 mix of 0W20 and 05W20 in the South where temps regularly get to high 90's and above? Or even running all 05W20?

Zero benefit , the oil will still be a 20weight at operating temp . Just use a 5W30 synthetic .

Yep, it is the upper number that you need to be concerned with in warmer temps. In the old days I ran straight 40 in summer and 30 in winter.

I was going to do my first oil change with Mobil 1 full synthetic. Would you do 0W20, 05W20, or 05W30 and why?

Toyota recommends 0W20 so that is what I'm leaning towards.

yes search this forum , there are tons of info on this subject .

    Long story short ,

0w20 is only recommended by toyota for fuel economy and to keep the CAFE regulations happy . Thats it ! . The engine is not designed around this oil weight . Toyota says to use a wide variety of oil viscosities based on climates .

Did a search and read a bunch. I’m going with Castrol Edge 5W30.

Exactly. For example, this engine in Saudia Arabia calls for 5W30. I've been using 5W30 in my Tundra for years and have not had any issues.

    0 in my Tundra
