    Hi All,

Not sure how to describe this other than weird. Here is what happened.

Started down the road this morning and a flashing L4 light came. Nothing seems out of the ordinary but I wanted to check it out anyway. Pulled into a parking lot and shut it off to check the manual (not much in there on that light other than that it is the Low 4x4 light). When I started the truck, all lights went out as normal. Started driving and a whole bunch of lights came on: Check Engine, L4 (flashing), VSC Off (Flashing) and Traction Control. Truck was functioning as normal so I drive it 20 miles to home without incident.

Before shutting it off, I grabbed my code reader and noted that it threw a P0705 code (Transmission range sensor). I cleared the error and the Check Engine + the L4 lights went out. Shut it off and restarted, all lights are now out. Drove it a few miles - no lights.

What the heck just happened there?

One note - since it has been getting cold, the shift from Park to Drive is a little stiffer than normal.

Check for damage on the wiring.. You may need a mirror or an endoscope to look on top of the transmission.. unless you drop the transmission or dwarf to a G.I. Joe 6 in. figure to fit up there, don't think there is any easier way...

Yeah - I think I have a little mirror somewhere. I will check it out. Those logging roads in Maine a few months back may have taken their toll on the wiring. Still clearing out mud.

Seems fine now - no lights. The stiffness of the shiftier concerns me some. It's the T handle option (no button on it) that was put on long before I bought it. It's a Toyota option. It might just have been stuck in a spot that did not trip the sensor properly.

I saw a thread on here with somebody having a very similar issue (same symptoms) and it was actually a fuse. I will check that out too.
