Does anyone know about the extended warranty up to 150k miles due to issues? We bought it used and now there is an issue with the secondary air injection pump..... 2nd time apparently...it was replaced in '16 before we purchased it.

What year is your truck and how many miles? The AIP pump/systems were covered under a 10 year, 150k mile warranty. Mine went out in 2015 on my 2008, and dealer fixed it with no charge. It went out again in October 2018, and by that point I was unfortunately out of the warranty range. I was still under the mileage, but my 10 years had ended about 3 months before. The 10 years start from when the truck was first sold originally. I bought mine in 2011, but it was originally sold in July 2008.

You will find out if it's not in warranty that it's about a $2-3k repair. I, along with others, have gone with a bypass kit instead of fixing it. You will find some good information on this thread about it. The kit I went with was by Hewitt Technologies, and was all plug and play. It essentially keeps that system from turning on.

**I see on the left of your post that you have a 2008. Most likely you are no longer covered.

I'm with you man, mine went out a second time this past October. I had already had it replaced once. Look up Tundra AIP Bypass kits on this site, as well as on the internet. https://hewitt-tech.com/store/

I added the link from Hewitt, as they have good information on their site as well. I'm certainly not a mechanic, but from my understanding the AIP system basically cuts on at cold start only, and is there for emissions, to pretty much let the exhaust burn cleaner, quicker. After a cold start, that system does not turn back on. Unfortunately when the code throws on these trucks for this problem, it puts the truck in limp mode. I would suggest not driving it much in this mode until you get it replaced. What the bypass kit does is plugs into your system and essentially keeps the AIP bypass system from turning on, so you don't keep getting the issue. Everything else on the truck runs fine with it, it just keeps you from having to spend $3k fixing something that is likely to return.

I've posted in other threads on here along with others, but if you search the site for the AIP Systems, you will find a lot of good info. I installed one of the bypass kits from Hewitt back in October 2018 in my driveway, in about 30 minutes....literally just plug and play. If you live somewhere you have to be inspected, it shouldn't give you any issues because unless you specifically know what you are looking for, you won't be able to tell it is installed.

No problem, that's what these sites are designed for, to provide good information from others! I would have never known about the kits had I not been a member on here and looked for similar issues. Probably 90% of the things that occur with these trucks, someone has posted on here about how to do things, solutions, tips, etc. Good luck!

Also, I spoke with Hewitt on the phone and they are very knowledgeable about their products, don't hesitate to call them.
