I think my problem fixed itself here but I want to get some opinions on what the likely cause was.

Stopped on a back road because a cop was blocking the road (must have been an accident ahead). When I started again, following the detour, I started hearing brake noise from the front passenger side. It sounded like the brake alarms. It got angrier sounding the closer I got to home. I thought the brakes were replaced before I bought it, but no big deal if I needed to do them.

Took a quick look from the outside and the pads seemed OK and the rotors are fine. Decided to just go get the brakes and rotors to do then anyway. Halfway to the parts store, the sound stopped all of the sudden. Took it down some windy roads, nothing. I hate when sounds just go away......

What are your thoughts? Could it have been a small rock trapped behind the brake shield?
