    Hey all,
I have an 07 tundra single cab w/ 4.7L V8 that I just love, runs like new with 150k miles on it and I got it for a song.
Anyway I am wanting to install a aftermarket deck that has 2 camera inputs (thinking of the pioneer 1500NEX or 1550NEX) and I want to have a backup camera on my truck and one on my travel trailer. Want to know if anyone has successfully done this and what you used to connect at the hitch?

    Thanks in advance all.

    Welcome!

I have a Pioneer 1550NEX with a backup camera in my 2010 Tacoma! I don't know anything about installing on a trailer, but with my truck it was prewired for a backup camera from the factory. I have a Clarion CC250 backup camera (no longer made) that is superior to the factory backup cameras in my dad's 2018 GMC Yukon and my mom's 2013 Nissan Murano; The backup camera was installed in September 2016, but I just replaced another Pioneer head unit with this one due to technical difficulties. My neighbor helped me install the backup camera, and he tapped into the factory "reverse wire". A lot of people with older vehicles or vehicles that do not have backup cameras tap into the reverse light in the back, but my install was very clean and functions like factory, turning on whenever the truck is shifted into reverse...

All 2009 and newer Tacomas are wired for a backup camera, but only models with SR5 trim and above actually have them, and I believe my backup camera is better than what they came with from the factory; Tacomas with factory backup cameras had the camera in the tailgate and a tiny little screen in the rear view mirror. Mine is mounted above the license plate and gives a better view than the factory tailgate handle camera in my uncle's 2012 Tundra.

Even though all Tacomas except base models had backup cameras beginning in 2009, the same does not seem to be true of Tundras, because I've seen Tundra SR5s as new as 2011 with no backup cameras; All 2009-newer Tundras with Rock Warrior package and the Limited trim seem to have them from what I've seen...

No Tacoma or Tundra older than 2009 came from the factory with a backup camera (though I do know a guy who has a 2007 Tundra with a dealer-installed backup camera); Since the pre-2009 models did not come with them at all, I'm guessing it might be a wee bit hard to retrofit a backup camera to turn on automatically when the truck is shifted into reverse.
