So, I finially gathered all my new map lights LED bulbs, and was changing them with no issues. Yea, they can be a bear to get out but I was getting it done, and then.........

I went to test one to make sure it was turned in the correct direction and would illuminate, and the on/off switch just blew-up. I then had to figure out how to get the entire console pulled (Done) to get and the switch. I could not figure out how to put the pieces back together and make them work. Lucky for me "Advanced Auto" sells the switch in a 2 pack for 23.00 part number 924-798. My problem is how to swap the new switch for the old, the switches will not be here until next Wednesday afternoon. Is there any wiring required, the picture of the switch that was ordered just shows the actual switch, has anyone been through this already? I hear it is pretty common for the on/off rocker switches to go limp, please share your thoughts, salute!

Might help if you threw some pics up showing which switch. Do you have a moon roof ? The roof consoles are different with or without moonroof.

Be interesting to see if that Advance Auto switch will work !

Ok, well that's same pic I posted and was meaning a pic of the switch that "blew-up" on you. With that pic someone might be able to assist you in putting the spring and other pieces back together.

Sorry about that, to early on Sunday morning, here you go, I have shots of everything. Notice that I had already changed the switch from Halogen to LED when this happened. I double-checked20210822_105528.jpg 20210822_105607.jpg 20210822_105537.jpg 20210822_105522.jpg the parts I ordered, seems that the Advanced Auto 924-798 does not fit this truck either. On my way back to cancel to order, thanks to anyone that can help. BTW The switch parts are all that I go find after it blew up, they are probably not in the correct order, if there was a spring I could not find it, salute! Also, I have a shot of the other good side, I do not see a way to just unplug the wires to install a new switch, thanks.

My 04 is indeed somewhat different in that I only have 2 wires(blk-w) going to switch. However, until you find proper switch either at pik-a-part junk yard(whole console would be good) or online, I suggest you consider jumpering the 2 wh wires together and using other switch to simply turn on both lights.

    my console switches....

So, if I connect the white to white on the bad switch, one switch will turn on both?

I can't be 100% sure because of the tape but when I took the tape off mine, the 2 light green wires from bulb are both connected to the light bluegreenish wire which on mine were the hot wires. The whites on mine are tied together back in the bundle under black tape with black wire. If you turn on the good light and semi quickly touch the 2 whites together, you'll find out. Or if you have a volt/ohm meter, you could check for sure.
