Need some help. I was on my way to work, get to a stop sign and the car cuts off. I tried to restart but I got no crank, no start and no click. I tried about 7 or 8 times and it turned over a few times and back to no start no click. I tried cleaning the cables, tested the battery and was still showing 12.5 amps after all attempts. The dash lights, head lights and radio all still work. I had someone to tell me to replace the switch, still nothing. Any ideas?

Update. After reading about the anti theft i used the key to lock the door, waited about 15 minutes and used key to unlock the door-it cranked up. (At this point I'm proud of myself), put it in reverse, backed up a foot or two, pulled back forward and cut back off. Has anyone ever had this problem?

    Bad cell in the battery?

Swap batteries and let us know if it still occurs.

A bad cell drops the battery to ~10 volts or so. The ECU does not like less than 12 volts.

Your truck sat for a bit and the voltage equalized over the 6 cells to give you 12 volts.( Each cell is 2 volts). There wasn't much capacity once started since 1 cell was in bad shape, so the truck died.

Let us know what you find.

If the battery had a bad cell, shouldn't the alternator kept it running?
