I have a 02 tundra v6 and I was wondering if it was possible to take the v8 they made for that year and swap it and just bolt up to the v6 trans? Are they the same transmission or am I gonna have to swap the whole thing?

Both used the A340F/E (F = four wheel drive E = 2 wheel drive). I believe it was the 02 Tundra that had the weak planetary gear (not that many people had transmission problems, but it's really the only year/application of A340s that had any sort of poor reputation...they are a very reliable transmissions in general), so if you get a V8 from an 03-04 that comes with transmission cheap it may just be easier to swap it all out at once...just a thought.

You may already know this but I would think you have to switch ECU's out as well....

I’m not sure if you ever got around to trying this... but the problem I ran into trying to put an 04 v8 a340e trans into my 02 v6 was that the v8 trans didn’t have a kick down cable hole and the v6’s do.
