New to the group and the Toyota Community. I was happy to be here until tonight…

I bought a ‘25 TRD Pro in January of this year, and have only driven 3,600 miles this year.

Took it in for a service for the first time since I thought it’s time to get some fresh oil in it after 8 months.

truck has been awesome, no problems yet… emphasize on the yet part.

I picked my truck up from being serviced, went back to work and had no problems. Jumped in to drive home from work and had a check engine light come on.

warning messages - Traction control, turned off, check engine, secondary collision break system malfunction. all followed by visit your dealer.

Oil pressure and temperatures were fine and I decided to drive to the dealership.
luckily the dealer is sort of on my way home, so I swung in there. The service tech that took my vehicle, said that the technician that did my oil change did not tighten in airflow sensor when they were doing an inspection on it…?(I’m not super mechanically knowledgeable)

they took it back, fixed it really fast and I was on my way. I went to go drive home and the truck felt extremely sluggish and unresponsive. It would not accelerate much past 25 to 30 miles an hour. RPMs were not high or alarming, and no hard shifts. Oil pressure and coolant temps were well within their norm.

However the truck started to shake, and it felt like something under the truck towards the rear of the truck was shaking quite violently. So I flipped on my hazards, turned around and slowly milked the truck back to the dealership. This was not even a mile down the road from the dealer at this point.

New messages - hybrid system malfunction, parking support brake malfunction, check engine. All followed by visit your dealer.

as you have probably guessed I am pretty frustrated as nothing was wrong with the truck until I got it’s first service. has anyone else experienced these issues or have any insight on this? Luckily, I don’t need the truck for a few days and I’m headed out of town so their “master technician” can take a look at it tomorrow when they are in. There were none left tonight.

I bought a new truck strictly for the warranty as my last truck (2013 GMC duramax 2500) had some electrical issues(TCM) that required new chips to fix it during the Covid chip shortage and I was stranded without a vehicle for over a year. I also picked Toyota because of their reliability, and something with a warranty. I know that they’ve had their problems with this current generation, but I thought I would have missed those engine issues with a brand new model.

Sounds like the dealer missed something on the first dealer visit ... hope the right amount of oil was used.

So, if you just brought it in for an oil change with such low milage you wouldn't expect them doing a big inspection to upsell you things you don't really need, but that's exactly what they are told to do. Thats what we were told when I worked for Mazda. Impossible from here to know exactly what happened to your truck, but sometimes inspecting filters etc. require unhooking wiring/sensors to gain access. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

A lot of the time it’s the filters for the HV battery are dirty. Do you live in a dusty area or maybe went off roading recently?

Sorry this was for the hybrid malfunction light only

Check your work report from the oil change, with only 3600 miles, are you certain they actually changed the oil? They may have only done an inspection.

Honestly I'd love to hear how you came up with this one. Those filters are inside the cabin, and he only has 3600 miles on his 2025 Tundra.

I work at a dealer. We have seen those filters clog with less miles. Now it’s typically after a person has gone off roading, but I live in a dusty area. And it’s not just Tundras and Sequoia we see it on. Siennas filters also seem to get dirty fairly quickly in my area as well. I don’t know how mud/debris gets into these areas, I just sell the parts.

As for his vibration, they probably rotated the tires as part of the 5K service and a wheel may have been left loose??

And just learned that over filling the oil on these trucks apparently makes them shake REALLY bad

Re: the Hybrid battery filters...doesn't sound like they're the issue here...but they do have to be checked more often than recommended. Even if not off-roading, dog hair, normal in-n-out back seat usage, kids, etc tend to accumulate debris quickly.
