I'm actually not a Tundra owner yet. I plan on getting a truck in the next few months. I'm leaning towards a Tundra but the cam tower leak scares me. I've been burnt 1 too many times jumping into a vehicle too fast. I've been a Dodge and Jeep person, but I really like the Tundra. I've already read a bunch of useful things on here and I'm excited to learn more.

Welcome from NC! Good Luck in your decision. Reason I chose Tundra was reliability, price and less tech stuff.

Didn’t stop me from buying. Read about the cam tower beforehand as well. Bought used though. No problems so far. Better off going with Toyota than other brands imo. Good luck. Every make has their quirks. GM fanboy no more. Not falling for their stuff anymore.

Welcome from Ohio. I used to only buy GM's but I will only buy a Toyota truck now. Good luck with your decision whatever it may be.

    Welcome
Not all Tundras have the leak. And even if so- it’s not killing anything.

I remember reading something somewhere that said the Tundra was behind the times. Basically it rides and feels too much like a truck.... I thought that was the point.
Thanks for the warm welcome all.

 Hiya and welcome from SoCalif!!!

Cam tower leak is not a big deal. Tundra will last you well into past 200,000 miles if you don’t decide to get a newer Tundra by then! Don’t be skerred! Lots of knowledgeable members to help you on here!!

I'm in a 08 tundra 80k miles .If I was to clean the oil from my cam tower it probably wouldn't show again for another 10 k miles thats how slow it is .I'm sure others may be worse but its not a real issue as long as you watch for it .Go get a tundra you will be a happy truck owner .

Welcome in from deep down in the cradle of the Confederacy.

I hope you stay with your well founded hunch and get into a Tundra. They're great. I have a 2017, 5.7 liter, 4WD. Been with Toyota trucks since September 1985.

Love my tundra. I had to drag a f250 out of the mud today. Might as well have been a ranger. Best truck I've ever sat in by far

    Welcome from SE PA!
I was always a Chevy guy. Did my research and it was clear that my new truck had to be a Tundra. I’ve only had it for 4 months so far but I love it!
Looking forward to it’s reliability. I’m also not interested in all of the bells and whistles of the other brands. Just more stuff to go wrong on vehicles that aren’t as reliable.
Good luck in your search. Be sure to show us your Tundra when you get it.

Oh man, you gotta try one out. We took another long family trip in ours this past weekend and I’m telling you, it’s gotta be the smoothest and funnest truck I’ve ever had. So quiet(except when I want it loud), so powerful, so comfortable, and tons of room. It’s solid and a real pleasure to drive. I averaged 17.1 mpg on the last leg of the trip, and that was mixed on and off highway. Not much worse than my 17 Tacoma was getting.
