As I go down the "deChrome" path, and me being the cheap bastard that I am, I decided to take a leap of faith and purchase black Dorman door handles to see if the quality was there etc.

Well, out of the box, they don't fit correctly, very close, but not something I would say is acceptable. I honestly didn't want to pay OEM prices on principle and I didn't want a overlay, so being the thrifty guy I am, I stared at everything long and hard.....had a beer and kept staring...once the beer hit, I figure it out.

Take the Chrome outer handle off the OEM base (one screw) and put the Dorman Black outer handle in it's place. Yep, easy peezy, same mounting and fits exactly like OEM.

All said and done, the final cost of all 4 door handles came out to be just shy of $80. Do some shopping around and you'll come in between that and $95 including shipping.

A little of this and a little of that.

You could always wait till someone posts them up here or on Tundra classifieds on FB and buy them that way. That's what I did, like 80-100 and they came off a Tundra so they fit perfectly.
