    First (probably the biggest) mistake:

We traded my wife's '08 Corolla and my '10 Pyrite Mica Tundra S/C TRD Off Road for a (facepalm) 2015 Subaru ForesterXT due to our living in an apartment downtown with limited parking. Gotta admit it was a quick, fun little car and cheap on fuel.

However, the Forester's god awful CVT **** the bed at 50k. By this time we were in a house with a double detached garage. Time for a truck.

This time, I thought it would be nice to have a midsize truck that would comfortably fit in the garage and the wife could easily maneuver around the city.

    Second mistake:

Tacoma envy got the best of me, so we traded the Forester (after transmission replacement) on a 2018 Tacoma double cab TRD Off Road. I made sure I worked the bronze TRD fake beadlocks that I had been lusting over ever since I saw them on the FJ cruiser, into the deal. This was the truck I was going to drive until the wheels fell off. I figure I'll get a double cab just in case we happen to have a baby.

Fast forward 8 months and we are expecting, so we go car seat shopping. The only way a rear-facing infant car seat will fit is if my wife has her knees inside the firewall, so that's not going to work. I had no idea how large infant car seats are, and how little room there actually is back there.

I was so annoyed at having to buy our 3rd vehicle in 4 years and the very real possibility of forfeiting my truck yet again due to lives changing, but luckily my wife hates minivans and thinks the Highlander is basically a sienna without sliding doors, so here we are back looking at Tundras again, thankfully!

    So
    ------
We are going Crewmax cab for sure, and I am leaning toward the Off Road (has the options I want and I like the way they ride), but if there's a better/newer trim level or new features (since 2010) I'm not aware of I'd like to know and will make a decision based on that.

I was hoping some of you could chime in with any other advice or recommendations. I'd really appreciate it if I could see some pictures of your particular set up for infant car seats so I can show my wife.

Thanks in advance and here's a pic of my outgoing rig!

There is now a mix of packages. For example, I got a 2019 Tundra 4WD Crewmax Limited with the TRD Off Road package. That way I got leather, dual zone climate and a few other things in addition to the Off Road goodies.

wow really? good to know. I wonder if this option is available in Canada? I do like all the new electronic features like cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise etc..
are items like those now standard with the TSS? Looks like TSS 2.0 is only available on a couple of models in Canada (no Tundra), so I might wait until late fall when the 2020s come out

    Edit: loving the Cement!

I've driven tacomas my whole life and it took a 3rd gen and a 1 year old to make me switch. Just did the exact same thing as you. Traded my 16 tacoma for a crewmax platinum and the room is incredible. This is a pic of our car seat and its one of the bigger ones made, my 1 year old sits in it and the legroom my wife has is crazy. She has more room than in her Highlander.
Btw, if you can swing the platinum, do it, the upgrade of the seats are well worth the extra few thousand.

You wouldn't happen to have a picture with a rear facing infant seat would you?

I'm curious how much room is left behind the passenger seat when that monster is in there! Seems to me like the rear-facing infant seats take up the most room as they are partially reclined...thanks for the pic and the firsthand knowledge!
