Hey guys, new to the forum but been lurking for a little bit. Currently in a 2017 Toyota Tacoma SR5 but thinking of upgrading to a 2019 Toyota Tundra SR5.

I know for the Tacoma, a lot of the posts on the Tacoma forums are about the transmission issue and leaking 3rd brake light, just seeing if there's anything for the Tundra I should know about?

    Welcome!
The cam tower seal is about the only thing that I have heard of that might be a concern, but I would not let that stop you from getting the Tundra. Still only a small percentage of trucks that are affected by it.

Blazing blue would be the way to go. It’s a shame they don’t do it anymore, didn’t realize that was the case. Welcome though, If you go through with the swap you won’t be disappointed!

How's the suspension on the Tundra? The wife complains that the Tacoma is "bouncy"

Came from the turd gen Taco back in August. Wow what a game changer! Love my Tundra. A dream to drive. I get about 18mpg on the highway if I keep it under 70. I only have 6112 bilsteins on the front for leveling. MPGs will be impacted once I get larger tires, dont care. After a few weeks you get used to the full size and it doesnt feel any bigger than other trucks I've driven. Dont be intimidated by the size at all.

Once in awhile the Pre collision system warning light comes on and wont let you use adaptive cruise control--you can still use regular non-adaptive cruise control. Sometimes I don't see it for a month then I had one day where it happened three times it comes on and off with no obvious rhyme or reason. Doesn't really cause a drivability issue...just an annoyance for me and something widespread enough that I know Toyota will eventually address. It's an anomalous problem, unable to recreate and nobody seems to have the answer yet.

Cam towers are leaking on some of the trucks due to a long standing production issue where somewhere in the process of building up the motor the machine/robot isnt applying enough gasket material and if this problem pops up under warranty it can be fixed but it freaks some folks out because it's not a simple repair. However I haven't seen any nightmare stories of the repair going bad, full disclosure I haven't really researched for nightmare stories on it. My perspective on the cam tower issue is when I'm at the dealer for maintenance I'll specifically request they inspect the cam towers. If the issue crops up I'll have it fixed. Otherwise I wont lose any sleep over it. Now if you want to hear about nightmares let me tell you about 3 years with a 2016 Tacoma.

Other than those two issues haven't seen any other real prevalent complaints. I think when you test drive the tundra it will sell itself, coming from a 3rd gen Taco.

My wife has that Toyota Safety Sense in her 17 Highlander. I don’t care for it and remember there was a way to turn off in settings so I’ll probably do the same on the Tundra.

    Thanks for the inputs!
