I am currently working on a light bar and was wondering if I grabbed 12 volts from the fog light to drive a standard 40 amp relay would that work ? I would like to eliminate the in cab switch and just use the fog light switch on the column to turn on the light bar. Any suggestions would be helpful. I am just a backyard mechanic, lol

A little of this and a little of that.
HOw many amps is the light bar? I personally wouldn’t want my light bar on all the time but that’s just me.

The light bar specs say 8 amps. It would only be on when you turn on the fog lights.

Use the fog lamp +12v for the coil on a relay. Get your 12v+ direct from the battery.
