my aftermarket tail pipes fell off on the road and I’m in the ASAP market for a new system or what has proven to help with gas mileage. After loosing my pipes the mileage went from 16.6 to 15.4 and seems to keep going down. Does anyone have any new takeoffs available
    Thanks and happy new year

Shipping is gonna be killer to get something to you, ASAP. Id recommend finding a local exhaust shop to get you something put together, for something quick. If you are close to Ft Worth, TX i have a stock muffler and exhaust, we could talk about.

Thanks Lucas I guess getting one made here would be quick and smarter than waiting. I do have family living near San Antonio that could bring them up if it came to that but it seems to be really running quite differently now so I’m going to get it fixed immediately. Unless I find one nearby. I live in Northern Pennsylvania.

Yeah you should be able to get something basic and put together for your truck for a couple hundred, it would cost that to ship. Good Luck and i hope your truck starts running better

I’ll give you a call today Keith to talk about a future fix but I finally had it welded yesterday. I found a small shop near where I was working on the outskirts of Erie,Pa that took me in immediately, had to not only weld it but fabricated a new y connection and welded new hangers on all the while letting me help them eyeball the look and alignment from behind. Then the owner of the shop said would 70 bucks be ok!!!! I nearly soiled myself and said ya think, I was prepared to shell out around 300 or so, it took us a little over two hours!!! There getting put on my Christmas list !! They look awesome painted a light gloss black and the truck acts completely different, it shifts quicker sounds louder and quit backfireing and I swear it seems to have more power. I want to see if my mileage goes back up then I’m thinking of getting a cold air intake???

I tested cold air intakes a long time ago. No power there.

K&N and other free flow filters are great when you are racing or have high HP engines but I wouldn't use them on a daily driver. Waste of money IMO.

Id suggest a K&N or other washes or filter. Not for immediate Hp. But for the ability to wash it when it gets dirty. It’s pointless to buy new every time it gets dirty.

So I calculated my mileage now and I’m at 12.6 down from 16.6 a few weeks ago?????
Only thing I did since was change oil and get muffler put back to the way it was when I was getting 16.6 ??

Give your computer time to re-program itself. may take a couple of tank fulls.

ok But when I get home this weekend I’m changing the oil back to what I had . The truck well, went from 5mpg when I picked it up because the battery was dead at the dealership, to 16+ by the time I made it home 5 hours later and has generally stayed around 16-16.6 since my last oil change which was a Napa store brand. Then after that change it crashed, I don’t know if it’s a coincidence or what but this has to get better or I have a Tundra for sale !!

If you are reading those numbers from the dashboard, don't because they can be deceiving. Calculate from fill up to fill up miles divided by gallons and that will be more accurate. Also go with the manufacturers recommended oil. I use Mobil Synthetic 5W-20 here in Texas but in colder climates go with 0W-20

Yeah I forgot to mention I back it up with calculating the mpg and the dash is usually within a tenth or so mpg. I don’t know what’s up but hopefully I figure it out cause this sucks

    Update but bad news.
I’m up to 250+ dollars spent/muffler repair back to how it was when I got it/ changed oil back to advanced mobile 0-20/ k&n air filter/ Certified Toyota Service Department Diognostic/ injector cleaner all the while driving nearly 600 miles since I had everything done and I’m up to 13 mpg
The dealership told me the tail pipe diameter is smaller than the oem pipes and that is the cause of the decline in mpg... but I’m sure I don’t have to explain to you guys !!
They also said I should go with the TRD true dual exhaust for better performance sound and mileage and gave me a price of 1300.00 for parts alone!!
I can literally feel the sluggishness and watch the mpg meter while it’s doing this. On a decent down hill decline I can press the gas an the meter bar will nearly be on the half way mark and on flats it will peg to the left 0-5 mpg then sometimes going up hill I can keep it 3/4 the way to the 30 mpg mark
I’m not done trying to figure it out and I’ll try to keep up with the progress on here

I had a chance to talk to my local mechanic and he said possible cat build up and recommended cat cleaner which I did for another 30 bucks!! Then I also washed EVERYTHING down and immediately warmed the truck up in my garage to 80 degrees for nearly 24 hours and still at 12.8 mpg now. I also didn’t realize but my code reader fits this truck and only found a misfire once!! I also noticed a squealing sound when it was really cold this morning but had it in a garage at 55 degrees all day today and didn’t notice it tonight but it still feels sluggish going down the road and 12.8 mpg. Could my catalytic converter be getting clogged without setting off a sensor warning light??? I seem to have everyone scratching there heads on this one and am about to cut the exhaust off at the manifold to see what happens!!!
