I've searched and searched on this topic, but not found any evidence of a wide spread issue with drive shaft bump out of the updated drive shaft.

I've poured over the TSBs on previous model years, and I'm experiencing a substantial amount of drive shaft binding on stops and starts - intermittently. The truck can go for a week in start and stop traffic with no issue. Out of nowhere it'll bump on every start stop for a whole day, then vanish. Same roads, same driving habits, just gone.

I've examined the drive shaft of my vehicle and found no provision for lubricating the slip joint which is where I'm convinced my issue lies.

I've been through this with a dealer that was pretty much unwilling to continue troubleshooting after their first attempt to repair was unsuccessful.

Anyone have any guidance on potential TSBs or reports of drive shaft bump on the newer trucks?

It is highly unlikely the driveshaft would come and go. Would look more towards rear brakes/e brake hanging up.

I do understand how the intermittent nature of this is puzzling. I would be surprised to find an intermittent issue with rear brakes as well. Nonetheless, I think I'm to the point of mounting a go pro to try and get better visuals on what may be occurring.

That’s a good idea with the go pro, I do the same. I’ve had brake calipers hang up intermittently on several vehicles, all shortly after new, it happens. The side hanging up will be heated up noticeably compared to the other, might be easy to rule out.

This same thing has been happening on my 2014 Tundra with 76k miles. I usually don't notice it when I'm coming to a stop unless I stop aggressively and hold the break down, sometimes a very noticeable bump will occur. Other times it'll bump if I hit the gas almost as soon as I let off the brake. Also if I let off the brake for a second and hit the brake again, it'll almost always bump. Some days it doesn't do it at all. I've been looking at other forums, but all of the drive shaft bump TSBs and issues I've found seem to be on the older Tundras. Very curious to see what you find to be the cause.

Mines done this from when I bought it in 2016. Its pretty annoying sometimes. My 2012 Tundra didn’t do anywhere as bad this one.

I'll admit that I have not looked into this any further since posting.

I have visually inspected the drive shaft and found nothing abnormal, but I would hardly consider that conclusive. I've found myself more and more curious on how the hill start assist system operates after reading suggestions of sticking calipers.

I really need to put a go pro on the truck one day to see what I can come up with...

Dealer will say that’s the characteristics of the truck even though they know it isn’t.
