Just bought my first tundra limited in cement and hate all the chrome. Looking to some blackout options and/or cement inserts to take their place. Starting with the grill! Want to be able to use the sensor. Is that possible with the TRD Pro Grill or do I need to go Black Honeycomb?

Welcome from San Diego and great choice of color! There’s a lot of information on here about grilles and compatibility. I recommend using the search function to do some research before you buy since there are multiple schools of thought on the matter. That being said, this is the route I went...

Looks great! @KnuckleHD Did you figure out a way to keep your sensor working or just forego it?

Yes, the sensor is mounted in the stock (for Pro) location behind the grille. I bought an aftermarket garnish. I’d probably just buy the OEM for piece of mind if I had to do it all over again.

I bought a Pro grille for a 17 model year and used just the surround on my 18 with the honeycomb Insert. Didn’t have to mess with the sensor and I like the way it looks. And I was able to sell the pro Insert that I didn’t use.EDE95D7F-AB50-4A88-AA73-DA0FAE31ED32.jpg

I ended up buying a 2017 cement pro grille and a 2019 black pro grille.

I swapped the surrounds and am in the middle of selling the 17 pro grille now.

Like you I de-chromed the entire truck and color matched everything.

    I couldnt be happier though.
    I LOVE my truck!!!

It’s a limited so keep the limited grille. Swap out the chrome to paint matched if you like the look.

I don’t understand buying limited trim, then putting on grille from lower / higher different trim level?

It's a long shot, but I think it might have something to do with people liking most everything about the limited trim that they chose (leather, dual climate, etc.), but they prefer the grille of the different trims? I know that might be hard to understand, but not everyone thinks like you do.

I hear you. The old style limited grille was particularly grotesque, the newer one is a bit better. To me it just felt weird putting mixed trim pieces on a vehicle. Like it’s trying to be something it’s not.

Hoologan, How hard was it to remove your insert from the grille surround. This might be the option I go because of how hard it looks to remove the sensor and reinstall it to the new grille. I really want the color matching surround and bulge.
