What trucks did everyone have before discovering Tundra life?

Now my 17 Tundra.
It’s by far the best best and nicest truck I’ve ever had. Has more room than my f-350 did.

 

Fun money pit toy but a definite money pit!

 

2013 DCSB Tacoma TRD Sport. Loved that truck, just needed a larger one at the time for the camper. This one is almost a smaller version of my 2018 Platinum.

 

I might catch some flack for being one of 'those' guys who lowers trucks, but I'll contribute...







My first ever truck was a Tundra. A 2001 SR5 Access cab 2WD. It was salvage and I rebuilt it myself with the intent to lower it:



I never did get around to lowering it. After 8 completely trouble-free years, and the family expanded with our second kid, I sold it to buy an 09 GMC Sierra Crew 2WD, which I actually did lower (5"/7" on 22's with helper bags when towing):



After almost 10 years with the Sierra... Just last month, after 11 months of searching (2WD Platinum w/TRD chargers in Super White are kinda rare), I came back around to the Toyota family and finally got my 2015 Platinum 2WD with the TRD supercharger. Lowered 3/4" on 24's:

2011 3500hd, gave up the snow plowing biz after 18yrs. Replaced it with the Tundra and a dump trailer.

Chevy S-10 no clue what year!
It was so damn ugly!
Bought it for $200 bucks sight unseen but it ran great and I could work on it!
Drove it for a couple years
Sold it to my Ex- husband for $800.00

 

My non Tundras were before camera phones, so no pictures haha. Was a Ford guy.

From the mid 70's to 1999, I was strictly a car guy... Pontiac GTOs, Datsun 280Zs, Acura Integra, etc...
The first truck I ever owned was this '96 T100 V6 4X4, I replaced it with my '02 Tundra.

84 Mustang GT got in trouble with this one. Lost my license. Why i had to get that next car.

I have had many and still have a few, but this one is a little different. 53” tires. $900+ to fill it up. Lol

 

1992 Mazda MX-3 It was my first car. I wanted a Toyota Truck, but couldn't afford one. It was a fun car. It was a 5 speed and had the worlds smallest production V6 engine - 1.8L!



2005 Taco. First new vehicle. It really hurt to let it go, but the 1794 4x4 Crewmax is better in pretty much every way

 

All gm trucks. 85 Silverado. 02’ Sierra. 14 GMC Sierra. 17 Colorado. Wish I would have discovered the Tundra after dumping the 85’ Silverado. First week in a tundra as a owner. Blown away how she handles and runs.

1st- 98 Chevy k1500
2nd- 94 Toyota pickup, 5 speed, 4wd. Wish I still had it.
3rd- 2009 Volkswagen Gti. Worst mistake of my life. NEVER get a Volkswagen.
4th- (current) 2014 Toyota Tundra.

 

That's pretty cool bet it will pull just about anything.

2002 RCSB Dodge Ram
4.7 L V8 5spd manual. Shorty JBA stainless headers 78mm throttlebody, CAI, tuned, 4.10 gears, posi, half leaf traction bars, 2 chamber Flowmaster lol, helwig swaybar, 2 10” woofers, kenwood single din, 8 ball shifter hah! Gave it to my mom. Now my dad drives it. Good truck!

6.0L LS2 3000 stall Yank converter, CAI, tuned, brake duct trans cooler w/e-fan, Magnaflow exhaust. She boogied though! I used it like a truck. Camping, towing, plumbing etc.
Traded this for the tundra.

As I’ve aged, I’ve come to appreciate comfort and space. The tundra is my first full-sized truck and I’m sold. Couldn’t be happier.

 

Wife has a 2013 4 door 6 speed manual GTI. I agree on the reliability, but. No problems at 95k knock on wood. Fun, fast car! Her family has been VW all her life, we still have her original owner 69 bug. (Aunt passed it down, wife's 1st car). Its only been stolen and stripped once haha. Got it back, made it better.

Just bought the Tundra 6 months ago and she really has been wanting a Golf R. I kinda do too haha.

 

97 Z71 Regency Conversion. Sure do miss the lazy boy seats...

Transmission, water pump x3, rear diff, fuel pump, radiator, intake manifold gaskets, door hinge pins, radio, ignition switch. All replaced before 100k miles with religious maintenance.

Sure do miss the lazy boy seats though. And the memories. It was a good truck or at least I thought it was at the time.

2000 Tacoma prerunner.
Loved both.
Only other truck i had was a 1993 Ford Ranger that had to have had the weakest engine ever installed in a pickup.

 

2011 4runner

 

Always wanted a mega cab. Bought a brand new 2012 and kept it until 54k miles. It was in the shop 17 times at that point for all the usual front end issues and I finally had enough and moved to the tundra. Here's a shot of my mega cab.

 

My first truck. Loved that tacoma. Miss her too. Had to have bigger since I had a 3rd girl on the way. No regrets.

 

My 1st real truck was a 2003 Dodge Ram

 

2005 Ram 1500 ST 4X4 four door, traded it in for my Tundra.
