I went to the Steelers vs chargers game this year when the refs gave the game to the chargers by making 5 or 6 absolutely terrible calls on critical plays that gave the chargers the win. I’m talking ghost interference plays on 2 4th downs...one ended up being a touchdown. One was a blatant false start that wasn’t called where rivers threw a 50 yard td bomb. A missed block in the back on a punt return td to tie it in the 4th. On and on.

Fast forward to last night, and I read it was the same crew officiating the rams v saints game. Same blatant missed calls. That entire crew needs canned.

It’s one thing to miss a call, but to consistently miss calls that change the entire outcome of the game is crazy...and to have it happen multiple times honestly also makes me skeptical about the integrity of the game. Not saying it’s rigged but man....it’s a coincidence for sure.

Edit: here’s a link to anyone that cares. I really am not sure why I care haha. Go Rams at this point!

I'm fairly certain the league as in Goodell realizes the crappy refs all season. Nothing to do with age. I'm 63 and see quite well after my Lasic surgery. I could have been blind and got that PI...

Anyone else think the Saints deserve the loss now after all the public whining?

I just couldn’t imagine the WW2 generation crying for a rematch over a missed call. Every game has missed calls. So to say 1 was the reason you lost is mathematically insane. Maybe they shouldn’t have let the game be so close next time

I’m neither a saints nor rams fan. That was a major missed call (4th quarter of a close game, where saints would have had the ball if call had been made, etc.) though that likely decided the outcome of the game.
It may have been Brees’ last chance at another SB also.

True. But every dropped pass was also a chance to change the outcome of the game. Im sure if you break down the tape, there was a missed defensive holding or PI call that favored the saints earlier in the game. Publicly calling for a rematch is just sad

You see how much the rams complained when they lost to us in regular season? Blaming it on not having AT and Gurley being hurt. Hell we played with out Sheldon Rankins, Ben watson our #1 TE, Josh Hill #2 TE (taken out by a helmet helmet), #3/4 wr depends on where you want to rank Kirkwood, Peat with a broken hand, and other o-line injuries. Then they claimed we won the Steelers game on a bad PI call, and how it lost them home field. When in fact we would of most likely still had home field because all we had to do was win week 17 with a Camless Panthers. yeah we wouldn't of got to rest starters, but we still most likely would of had home field advantage. We are not complaining about any of that. We are only complaining of a call where 2 possible even more refs looking at a clear DPI and Targeting foul and not calling it. We could have still won and should have played better. There is no reason two refs staring down the play, watching it, deciding to PURPOSEFULLY not call those penalties. They knew what they were doing. If you don't think so you are delusional.

    Saints fans are deservedly irate.
That was an obvious penalty that was somehow not called at a crucial part of the Game.

It’s just like a badly scored boxing match though. No going back now.

You honestly think the Saints LET that game get close? This was 2 of the best teams in the NFL going at it, the outcome is expected to be close. As professional NFL players, I'm sure they expect the same level of judgement from the professional officiating crew. This was clearly not the case and when the Saints got that gut punch I'm sure it took the wind out of their sails and momentum was out the door.

As for the whining and deserving the loss because of it, I could ask the same thing about those whining about gun control and the eventual loss of all rights. JMO

Sounds like reaching in my opinion. No different than players not watching the kicker try to win it. Your Seahawks were poor losers starting a fight at the end in kneel down. And its not the first time or last time they've done shit like that either.

Should have been running it istead of throwing it to run down the clock or force LA to use timeouts

I have no horse in the race. Couldn’t care who won.

But a football game is thousands of individual decisions made by many many guys. Collecting into a team effort. To say one decision is the reason you lost is wrong. The old saying is, don’t leave it to the judges. Emotions cause us to say that one play changed the game. But reality is that the game could have been changed on some other play in the 3rd quarter

When you don't notice officiating in a game of any sport, the officials did their job.

Yeah, true. Rules are rules tho, and they were intently not followed. Integrity of the game goes out the window. They knew it was PI and Targeting, and for the head ref to blatantly lie after the game and say "I didn't see the play" is absurd.

I think we're all not happy with the officiating this season. I've been watching the NFL for over 50 years(yes I'm old af)and I've never seen the level of incompetence displayed. Clearly something needs to be done. No team should have their outcome decided by idiots. I surely didn't want to win this way. I don't think anyone here does. It was an extremely horrible non-call in a season full of absolutely atrocious officiating. Let's not snipe at each other. It's neither the fans or players fault. The blame lies squarely with the NFL. Fix it or risk damaging the game and fan base forever.

Isn't this the first or second year that the refs were employed full time by the nfl? Theyve sucked ever since that started, but, ...

Like the missed face mask on Goff in redzone, could have been first and goal a chance to take the lead instead of a field goal to tie

As bitter as I am about the non-call, I'll be cheering for the Rams on the 3rd. Sure as hell not supporting the Brady bunch. Never did like him and seeing him lose will make me warm and fuzzy inside. :)

I totally hate Tom Brady and the PATS like most non-NE fans. But I do respect him for how he plays the game and what he's accomplished. IMO, he was doing nothing wrong with what he was doing. It's common for offensive players, especially QBs to be on the bench when the D is out there. They're usually either looking at photos or getting "into their zone". Same goes of defensive players when the O is on the field.

Agree 100%. I think that it’s frustrating to see those huge mistakes in key moments though. Definitely not advocating for a rematch or anything else. Just saying that the people making mistakes should be held accountable.

I’m a Steelers fan and I’m sure they’ve gotten away with their fair share of missed penalties. But it seems like a lot of big missed calls have gone against them the last 2 years. Ie Jesse James’ overturned TD catch to take the lead against the Pats last year late in the game.

I think that, at best, the NFL will “discuss possible rule changes” during the off-season and we might see replay used on a broader scope. That’s probably even a stretch.

At the end of the day though, I honestly don’t really care all that much. Way more important things in life. Haha

The refs need to get younger or they need to be able to replay calls to get them right. I am in favor of younger refs. You've got all star athletes doing amazing physical activity at impressive speeds. Most of the refs are geriatrics and can't keep up.

Not more replays, PLEASE! They take too long as it is and games keep getting dragged out longer.

That's why they should get younger in my opinion. And if there is someone in NY replaying all the plays, post season should be able to replay and move faster as there are less games, and only one at a time.

But as bad as they were all year they listened and didn't call anything in the 2 championship games and let them play. Now getting backlash for that. How are the going to ref the SB? Let it go or call every ticky tack penalty?
