On my 05 Tacoma I used to run a bottle of fuel system cleaner about once a month. Now that I have my 18 Tundra I was wondering if and what everyone here is using, if anything at all? Also is once a month to much or not enough?

I use this every 3k to 6k miles, in all of my vehicles. Never had any problems because of it.7080006_lco_10020_pri_larg.jpg5

I run a bottle of Lucas Upper Cylinder through each of the vehicles once/twice a year. Maybe it does something.

I still get 36mpg in my 2007 Toyota Matrix, 165k miles, same MPG since the day we bought it, and I've always used Lucas Upper Cylinder in this vehicle. It also doesn't lose 1 drop of oil between 10k mile oil changes.

Everything else (mowers, bikes, generator) only get the blue Sta-bil.

Thats what I have been using. Although motorkote has a similiar product and I used it last time.

Use Lucas here as well .run it 2 to 3 times a year. Of you buy it in the gallon size it's much cheaper than the little bottles

I dont like change.:D my Dad always used Lucas, and for the last 30 years, it's what I use. And like @OBXTundra said, for lawn equipment storage Sta-bil. There are a lot of different ones out there, I just choose to stick with what has worked for me. I hope that doent sound snarky.

I will say the blue sta-bil has been better for me than the red. I've had bikes and equipment not start or start very rough and run rough for an extended amount of time after using the red. I've had no issues in the last few years of using the blue sta-bil. Everything starts and runs everytime. No rough running or acting up either.

I run Seafoam thru the tank and the crank annually. I put it in about 1/2 tank before I'm going to do an oil change.

Another vote for Lucas. I use the upper cylinder lubricant 2/3 times a year. I don't know if it's helped but I do like the fact that it's not solvent based.

I use Lucas Upper Cylinder Treatment in my gas tank and MotorKote for the crankcase. MotorKote is totally different. Motorkote is not an additive like Lucas UCT. MotorKote can be added to a full crankcase and will not displace oil. A great anti friction product that works. It clings to all metal engine surfaces and doesn't affect seals. Not cheap though.

Marvel mystery oil every now and then. Been using it to build, and maintain motors for over 10 years. Love that stuff if I have a motor going to sit for several months I put a lil bit on top of the Pistons

It's easy to make your own MMO. It's simply 75% mineral oil, 1% lard, and the problematic ingredient>>>>>25% Stoddards SOLVENT...Yes 25% of MMO is solvent. Back in the 20's MMO was used as a cleaning/solvent additive to gas tanks because refineries back then put out inconsistent fuel. Somehow over the years it's now considered a lubricity product. Technically yes due to the 75% mineral oil.

Thanks . Honestly I never even checked it out. I was taught to use it 20 years ago. Carbureted Harley motors, orchard equipment, tractors, etc. I live in a rural area. I wouldn't use any fuel additives if I lived in a city with good gas stations. The dust alone on country roads needs something to clean up the cylinders every once in a while. Imho

MMO is good and relatively inexpensive. Has multiple uses too. I've even used in my lawnmower. The military uses it by the barrel. MMO has been around a long time.

There’s a feller on YouTube that tested most every one. There were maybe one or two that showed minor cleaning of the valves. Worth it? Not IMO. Using quality fuel such as Shell has shown to help reduce buildup and clean just a wee bit. I rather do that.

I use to have a GDI vehicle and it was recommended every 5k miles. If you start doing it with a new vehicle, perhaps overall longevity will improve.

Yeah, if you use top tier gas you should be good to go. Some folks like buying the cheaper gas. In that case you could add Techron I guess. I think I know of the YouTube guy you mentioned. Cool.

I was referring to a different product that Motorkote makes, its an upper cylinder lubricant, it was sitting right next to the Lucas oil product.

I buy a gallon of Lucas injector cleaner and a gallon of Mistery Motor Oil and add the two every three to six months to all my vehicles.
No issues ever. Good luck. D
