TX 2013 RCSB

Many of you know me from Tacomaworld. Excited to be part of the new site. I'm on my second Tundra TRD Off Road regular cab standard bed. Had a 2011 4Runner and a 2012 Tacoma TRD DCSB in between the two Tundras. Looking at leveling kits, wheels, and tires tomorrow!

Yeah, its about to get expensive! The plans are to go with KMC Skitch 20X8.5 wheels, Cooper Zeon LTZ 275/60/20 tires, and Bilstein 5100s set to 1.75" to keep a little rake. After that, custom Katzskins leather seats, black with perforated inserts and red stitching. Luckily the stereo/video is already nearly done, minus the sub and front facing camera. $$$

 

I got a Pioneer AVIC X940BT for around $550 since it was last year's model. I liked it better than the newer ones because it still had an old fashioned dial volume knob, plus I don't need iPhone 5 compatibility. The stock speakers are holding up fine, but I'm adding a powered compact under seat sub.

The 275/60/20 tires are exactly 33" in diameter, about an inch larger than stock. I want to preserve some semblance of gas mileage, since I won't be doing any serious off-roading. The Cooper Zeons are an "extra load" tire, pretty close to a C load rating. I don't need an E load rating, but want a little more than a P-metric, so these will work fine for me (plus they're relatively cheap but look badass).

The Katzskins should transform the look of the interior a lot. I have the gray interior and eventually plan on buying all the plastic bits to change it to all black, with the exception of the headliner and seatbelts.

 

It was mainly a garage space issue. I live in hailstorm alley and you DO NOT park a nice vehicle outside here. Plus I don't have kids and my dogs shed way too much to put them inside a vehicle, so I really don't need any more seating. Also, its more maneuverable and its kind of cool to have something so unique (less than 1% of total production I think).

 

Supercharged 2nd Gen. regular cab 2X4s are definitely out there. Supposedly they're popular in the street truck scene in CA. There's a guy on Tundratalk that runs 11s in the quarter mile with his. Sadly, I have the Flexfuel engine, so no S/C for me.

 

Not sure the mechanical specifics, but Toyota says no. I think it can be done, but it would void the warranty. So get the non-Flexfuel if you want the option. For fun...here's BRX's 11 second RCSB in action:

No issues at all, but I only have 1500 miles on it. I have not tried E-85 in it, and probably never will. It actually gets noticeably better gas mileage than my 2010 non-FFV, which was otherwise identical.
