Maplewood Toyota told me it never needs to be replaced unless there is a problem. I got a quote of $250.00 from Maplewood Lexus. YouTube is your friend if you are planning on doing it yourself. Lots of people on this forum have done it. Use the OEM fluid they recommend. Good luck. D

I did a full fluid replacement at home on both my wife’s 2006 4Runner and my 2011 Tundra. Used Valvoline Maxlife and Amsoil. Both are working great many miles after. Just google how to do it. There are multiple write ups on it.

This video explained to me how the setup is down there. He breaks it down pretty well. Seems pretty straightforward just you would be upside down.

Personally I’ve never done a drain refill yet.

A "Drain and Fill" is the Toyota recommendation. Which only ends up being 4-5 quarts from what I have read. Roughly a 3rd of the fluid getting changed.

Ive only done a drain and fill. I used amsoil i got from the dealership. Think is was ~4.5qts. Drained what was in the pan and poured into empty atf bottles to measure what needed to go back in.

I also asked dealer about doing a flush back in the day and they also said not needed, plus it would be pretty costly.

Thanks for the info y'all are awesome. I'm gonna do it this weekend. I was also going to ask about the throttle they said it's got some buildup on it that it has to be cleaned and so many miles is that something you can do yourself
