Aluma trailer

I am looking at various utility trailers. Something about 72” to 78” and either 10’ or 12’ long. Will be used to haul golf cart, exmark zero turn, two motorcycles or just normal stuff. There is an Aluma dealer near me and they have caught my eye. I have never owned an aluminum trailer before and wanted to see if the collective had any opinions.

I have a single axle, like 6' wide and 10' long, got it when I had a Tacoma to haul my cannon and limber, but use it for my gator, zero turn as well. Tows great, low maintenance, and light.

 

Aluma is built very well. We have used them for hauling fuel tanks, side by side, mowers and whatever else we could fit. No complaints and no issues. There not cheap.

 

Working for a Yamaha golf car distributor a few years ago, we had multiple Aluma trailers in use. I’ve put thousands of miles on these trailers. Well built, light and pull great. Only complaint would be the welds on the ramps crack after heavy use over a few years (golf cars going up and down). They were repairable but after multiple repair attempts there wasn’t enough metal to continue, so Aluma sent a new ramp.

 

Interesting to hear about the ramp. It won't be a high use item and will live outside most likely it's entire life so that is the reason I am thinking aluminum. I moved one around and at 650ish pounds it was way easier than a steel trailer. I am wondering about the bed though as I think a wooden decked trailer might take more accidental abuse and can be replaced easier.

These folks are about 45 min from me. I wandered around their lot in the rain about 2 weeks ago and have my eye on this one. Maybe someone will buy it and that will end my temptaion... lol..

The decks are solid, wouldn’t worry about that at all compared to wood. I can tell you that’s a pretty high price and they’d likely take less. I’d try to get them down to $2500 range. The markup on these is crazy, like 50%, we were an authorized disctributor and would take damn near 50% of asking price especially around the end of the year.

Aluminum is nice, I vote ATC. on mine you can move the ramps to any spot for side or rear loading.

 

HT, that is awesome! My father years ago said if he hit the lotto he was going to buy a cabin in the mtns, get a cannon, a bottle of Jack and some bagpipes. Make himself a toddy, play the most godawful bagpipes ever heard, and light off the cannon. I bought him a bagpipes CD, a mini bottle of Jack and a Winchester black powder 12ga signal cannon for Christmas that year. It is quite small compared to yours but can be fun on holidays.


Ubnpast that is quite the rig! I don't need anything quite that large. My use will be generally hauling yard stuff, house stuff and our Triumph motorcycles. My father has the zero turn and the golf cart which is what is leading me to the 12 footer over a 10 as he will need to use it occasionally.
