Bed Rug or bed mat??

I am on the fence for this one. Any pros or cons to each?? Thanks.

 

How about a spray in liner and a bed mat?

 

I do have the spray in liner already and I just want to keep it looking good.

 

Go with the mat, much easier to clean.

 

I used plywood. Not worried about trashing it

 

I put an OEM mat over top of my spray in liner.

 

I like the mat. It prevents stuff from sliding, washes off easily, and looks good.

 

I have the line-x + the oem mat. Just feel that the run will retain water longer versus a rubber mat if either got wet.

This is what I have in both Tundra trucks.

 

BedRug. Super easy to clean, anti skid surface, padded, breathable, dries quickly, looks darn good too.

I have spray in liner and bed rug.

 

Had a bed rug in my last truck. Was nice for the most part but little bits of stuff got stuck in the fabric and was a PITA to get out. Got some paint spilled and dried into it that never came out. Went with the LineX and OEM with this one. Like that combo better. If I damage the mat too bad, I can replace it a lot cheaper than the bed rug.

 

LineX and bed mat gets my vote. The mat is great for stopping stuff from sliding around and provides some extra protection when throwing crap in the bed. If I'm hauling around something really messy like dirt/ rocks, etc., I just take the mat out and spray out the bed when done.

 

I have a bed rug over a spray on liner. It looks great, and I like how it makes it more comfortable on my knees or when laying down while camping in the bed of the truck. It's also good for sitting down with pillows and blankets at the drive-in. I've hauled all kinds of stuff on it and gotten it real dirty, and it's held up surprisingly well - no tears, holes or anything like that the 3 1/2 years I've had it. When dirt spills on it, it vacuums up easily.

But it has some cons. Stuff slides around way more so than it did on the rubber mat I had on a Tacoma I once owned. And maybe mine is old, but it doesn't dry as quickly as advertised. Mine takes about 8 hours to dry, except on hot, sunny days, when it might take 4 hours. With the Diamondback cover on and sealed, it took a week to completely dry. But my biggest complaint about it is that the adhesives gave way after about a year, causing it to almost fly off while driving down the highway. I lost trust in the adhesive velcro stickers. Rather than risk the same thing happening with new replacements, I used a bar and some 2x4s to weigh it down and keep it from flying off before I got the Diamondback cover.

Despite all that, I still like it. But if I had to do it over again, I'd probably get a rubber mat and save some money.

Yeah that looks great- but it does not look like you’re the guy to get a yard of river rock for me!! (Hell, I rented a trailer for that too!)

That almost looks like gym floor rubber. Sharp-
And darn near indestructible. But heavy.

 

I have the bed rug in my 2016. Perfect to throw a few tools back there without them sliding around. And no noise when you toss items back there. The rubber Matt on my other trucks kept water underneath. The rug breathes and water goes right through

 

I've had my Spray-On bed liner in my 2010 for several years with a Rubber Mat on top. Couple years ago I bought a Rubber Mat for the tailgate. Didn't take long for the weight of the mat to blow-out the Damper Shock though. Got rid of the Tailgate Mat and replaced it with a Bedrug for the tailgate. Replaced the Tailgate Shock and now all's back to normal.

 

I have the Toyota bed mat with no sprayed on liner. Is there something I can get to protect my tailgate?

 

First thing I did when I got my bed rug was to head to Home Depot and get the best 3M wide roll of Velcro. Not only did I use the Velcro but also used bed rail fastener points to secure the BedRug. Ain't going anywhere. I have a hell of a time sliding anything on the Bed Rug surface. The fact that it's padded is a huge plus. The RedRug comes in different configurations. I have the full form fit version. DeeZee makes a super strong antiskid 3/8" thick bed mat that would be a good option to consider.

 

Linex only...I've always ended up fighting the liners/mats/rugs...nothing slides no hassles and I can scrub and rinse it out whenever I need to.

 

Like I said in my post, Bed Rug on the tailgate was my solution, after blowing my Tailgate Shock with a heavy Rubber Tailgate Mat.

 

Bed Rug material is very durable and lightweight.

 

If you are planning on a topper, I say bed rug.
