Worked in DC this week, several parking garages and valet parking. Got home Thursday, washed it Sat and found this.

    NEQVOCbNChgib9Qej_F2B3q0fSJ_qUSnekKOGOXc_ba0e1ea6b41caf5f0e60ce7f82a7e6cfbac15bb2.jpg

Can't figure out how this happened, I know it didn't happen with me. No marks on the bumper so I think something backed into me.

So I got a truck, it's gonna get bumped but only had it since Labor day, if I had done it I wouldn't be pissed. Someone else did it and I have no idea who.

Care to guess what it will cost to fix?

Ouch. I’m not sure a paintless dent remover would be the right fix. Might be a new tailgate right there.

People are idiots, I have about 5-6 bumps like that around my doors and I ALWAYS park away from people, and generally avoid parking garages but never stops idiots from doing their due damage to others property.

    Sorry man!

I don’t know the cost, but I would make an insurance claim and get it fixed properly.

Sorry to hear about your truck and it’s a gutsy move to take that into DC since you have a lot rail transit options.

Could it be possible someone tried to take your tailgate as it was parked by a cornered post. The post may have saved it from getting stolen. :notsure:

I am not a dent expert but, I have been through a couple of hail storms.

Do not let them PDR and block that. That dent on the seam will show. Have them replace the tailgate or the skin. It will save time and aggravation.

    New tailgate maybe about 800-1000 paint.....maybe 2-500.

I would check out craigslist or any truck dumpyards maybe a pull a part business and get a white tailgate.

I can tell you from my saga that there is currently a Tundra body parts shortage across the country.

Bottom line, people don’t take responsibility for there actions anymore. No consideration for others and most people think the world revolves around them. Sorry you had a ignorant assface do this to your truck. Good luck with the repair.

can't say who's insurance to claim it against, can't do mine, I got a $1,000.00 deductible.
And yeah, DC has a lot of rail service but not to South Carolina. Long story why I had to drive but I did enjoy the drive.

That’s why I say in this day and age, comprehensive insurance is a must! Too many people don’t care about others property. Had to replace two of my driver side doors (front and back) due to some idiots trying to break in. Gashes with a screwdriver all over, popped handles off and holes where they tried to pry the lock off.

The safe answer is that the bed is now ruined and replace it with a flatbed. :D
I wouldn’t use insurance though on a serious note. Just an excuse for them to raise your rates

It's me, aka Happy Uncle, back to my former name Grumpy Uncle. Remember the hail storms we had here in CO back in June?
Long story short, we had 2 hail storms back in June, took out my Tundra, my oldests Tacoma and my youngest 4runner, totalled the 4runner. Shredded the house pretty good as well. About $38000 in damages to the 2 trucks about $50000 to the the house and property.
I have been without my truck since August. Here is some entertaining and comical reading for you.

    Wouldn't that be cool!

Effin' A on the insurance claim, pay enough as it is and I'm sure the repair would be less than my deductible.

Check to see if the parking garage has cameras, usually on each floor and entrance and exit points, worth a shot.

I've been doing PDR for a little over a year and from the photo any skilled PDR tech could fix that, there will be touch up needed as well but that I'm not sure on the best route.

    Total bummer!!

I had a similar dent in my current truck within 6 months. Wind storm broke a branch off my tree and it fell right perfectly to dent the shit out of my tailgate.

    320.00 to repair.
