Readylift kit help

I am still trying to figure out what to do on my truck as someone who has never leveled or lifted a truck before. I was hoping to get some feedback and information. Based on my research and limited understanding of this stuff, it seems that a Readylift 3/1 kit is likely the way to go for me.

I understand the difference between a suspension lift vs a body lift but what’s the difference between a suspension lift and Readylift 3/1 kit? Readylift 3/1 kit is something called a smart suspension technology lift and a sort of middle ground between a leveling kit and suspension lift. Would greatly appreciate any information offered to help clarify this for me as well as if anyone could post pictures of their trucks if they have any of the following:

I have no experience with Ready Lift, but it looks like their 3/1 kit uses a front spacer and a rear block. Technically it’s a suspension lift in that it pushes the front control arm assembly down to achieve lift by using a what appears to be a metal spacer. I just don’t know if it’s the kind of spacer that fits in between the top of the coil spring and mounting bracket or if it fits on top of the mounting bracket. For the rear it looks like it raises the leaf pack up by using a block on the axle’s leaf spring perch.

It doesn’t necessarily add any kind of improved suspension performance since it still uses the stock front coilovers and stock rear leaf pack and shocks. It does change the suspension’s geometric angles a bit, though, especially up front. Not sure if the kit comes with new upper control arms, but if you have trouble aligning it, you may need some aftermarket ones to help with that. Some also suggest a front differential drop (diff drop) that uses a spacer to help re-angle the differential and CV axles to run more parallel. Others seem to do fine without that, though.

 

Im not sure; didn’t do a ton of homework/research before I bought the kit. There’s a guy I work with who I know to be a mechanical anally retentive person; he has a Tundra, and he used a Ready Lift kit. Just followed his advice and went with the same thing he used...

 

I’d go with a coilover lift over spacer lift any day.

Before some butthurt members chime in, it’s YOUR money, YOUR truck, you do what you want.

But if you’re going to be on trails, or pothole laden roads, your truck, your ass and your wallet will thank you in the long run if you get coilovers. Buy once, cry once.

 

Yeah, knowing what I know now, I would have done something different; Bilstein 5100s or maybe something sexier. When my current shocks wear out in a few years I’ll revisit the issue.

 

Did the same. Got spacers and within 6 months of teeth chatter, butt cheek bruises and a sore tailbone, not to mention constantly checking to see if everything was coapacetic under the wheel well, I went for the BOSS kit. Haven’t looked back once.

 

Not to bust balls, but if you have blocks on the rear suspension with stock suspension, I would check them out. Had my 12 for 2 years and blocks for 8 months, when I got aftermarket rear shocks, I realized I could compress and depress my rears by hand. Realized it was because of my 1” block forcing my rears to operate outside of manufactured capabilities, eventually they quit.
Bed bounce is a TON better now.

 

What setup do you have now?

 

Very simple setup.

Toytec BOSS - dialed to 3” even
Toytec BOSS rear with resi
1” Toytec Block in rear

275/70r18 toyo AT’s (next will be 295/70r18)
Upcoming method roosts in bronze (should be a week or two before they’re delivered/mounted)

 

So would you (Law and Trex) say that 5100s are the most basic lift setup that you would consider? I’m starting to feel like maybe I’ve gone cheap at the expense of quality. All opinions welcome, no butt-hurtedness will occur...

 

Took the Ready Lift out yesterday, now rolling 5100s. Ride is MUCH better

 

On my old 12 Tundra I did 5100's all around. With the front on the highest setting and a 1" block in the rear. I have seen a bunch of the ready lift kits. It's a spacer on top of the front shock mount. Probably one of the better spacer kits. But I would do the 5100's at minimum. Way better ride and as stated above, the rear block will kill your rear shock before you know it.

 

Decided to go with a 3/1 ready lift leveling kit. Can’t decide between 35” or 33” tires and I am considering keeping my 18” stock TRD wheels as I have never been one too impressed with fancy rims. Anyone have any pictures they can post with 3/1 ready lift kit with 18” and 20” wheels with different size tires? Also, any suggestions are welcome.

33’s are too small for a 3/1.

 

It's what ever tickles your fancy. My truck specs are listed below and I got 305/65-18 approx. 33.6" They are plenty big. I didn't want/need 34"+ tires. 35" tires will kill your gas mileage. But again, get what you want and will suit your needs and make you happy.

 

Measure your front rake before you decide. I did the 3/1 without doing that and I ended up with the front up an inch over the back. Had to change out the back 1" block to a 2". This is the final result with stock 20" wheels.
