If you are gonna move out of California because of this, please do. The state is already too full and the traffic sucks. The rent is way too high, but that's understandable because we have shit to look at and stuff to do because we aren't shoveling snow for 5 months of the year. Also, we're smart enough to keep our snow in the mountains where it belongs dammit.

And as previously stated, there are other apps to use to message someone. Get this one, it's an app that lets you type in a sequence of numbers and it makes another persons portable cellular device ring. The owner of that phone then makes the ringing stop by "answering it". Now here's the kicker, once the phone is "answered" there's an audible connection made possible by technology and witchcraft and probably the blood of a virgin and the 2 users can actually talk to each other in real time, like walkie talkies. Amazing right?

That's no lie. We left CA (Rocklin) 23 years ago. Missed it for a long, long time but not any more. When we go back to the Sacramento area to visit I usually can't wait to get the heck out of there. It has changed SO much.

My dad grew up in Escondido and my grandparents lived there until they passed about 11 years ago. Hanson Realty was started by my godfather, Bill Hanson. When I was a kid he would take me sailing on his 40' Islander out in the bay. Good times.

    It's a beautiful area, that's for sure.

Totally disagree on this. I can't even walk down the street drinking my beer and the bars close at like 1am. WTF is that all about. At least in Vegas I can drink where I want till the sun comes up.

Pretty sure billions upon billions of fed $ gets sent back to Kali. Kali ranks around #1 in fed $ "doled" out every year. Kali has been having their cake and eating it too! For decades. After living in Kali on and off since 1963 including my last 17 year stint.....most harebrained tax ideas ended up being a tax. Not unlike the huge gas tax. Yes that same gas tax actually upheld in the last election. Go figure. Kali has lost their minds. Need to go send some tax free CO sourced texts. For now
    ..Lol...

You guys need to be careful, we're going to open up a bill to tax people who speak in negative terms about California, then we will really get ya!
    :spending:

This is my favorite part, insane. Sure, let's pay for the last 5 years worth of texting retroactively, brilliant plan.

"The California Chamber of Commerce and other business groups calculated the new charges for wireless consumers could total about $44.5 million a year, according to the Mercury News in San Jose, Calif. They said that under the regulators' proposal the charge could be applied retroactively for five years — and could amount to a bill of more than $220 million for California consumers."

We are talking about Kommiefornia. Most of the major aerospace players in the LA area got taxed out... Many of them ended up here in CO and Texas. Wise choice. They are thriving. A text tax does seem a bit desperate for a 7th ranked economy.

I still love the Dodgers...wait...what's that sound???.....another Kali tax....you get used to it. I've got relatives still in Orange County that I visit. As kid I used to play/trespass when there were actual orange groves there. My 94 yr old mom does have an orange tree in her backyard and uses a landline still. No text tax for her. All is good.

With all due respect, California has absolutely lost its mind. Many said the same as you about lots of other stuff that has become law, and passed ballots. Some recent examples include the "bullet train" (the 200billion dollar project nobody wants, or needs), or Prop 57 (releasing "non-violent criminals" early, by redefining what a "violent crime" is in the state; rape by intoxication, rape of an unconscious person, human trafficking involving sex act with minors, drive-by shooting, assault with a deadly weapon, taking a hostage, domestic violence involving trauma, possession of a bomb or weapon of mass destruction, hate crime causing physical injury, arson causing great bodily injury, discharging a firearm on school grounds, corporal injury to a child, false imprisonment of an elderly person... and on and on... all now "non violent crimes" in the great state of California). Or the gun control crap they keep piling on each year, that was just recently shown to do absolutely nothing to stop violent crime (in fact its up this year 18%). Or the recent requirement that all new home construction include solar panels driving the costs in an already ridiculous market to astronomical levels, or the "sanctuary state" stuff, or how about banning straws based on junk science... and on and on and on... Promise the takers more "free" stuff, the uneducated scared masses "safety", and the bleeding hearts good "feelings", and California is what you get. Its a ticking time bomb.

Not saying this to attack you specifically, but I am saying those with attitudes like this may want to poke their head up and look around. Your comments are expressed all too often by too many others, and in the mean time 10% of the shit they throw at the wall sticks when you're not looking (some call this political strategy "saturation").

This isn't exactly true. Check the numbers. Then check them again. The actual "tax paying" population is leaving in droves. The population that live off the backs of others however is growing much faster. You'll have to work to find those stats though; rarely reported, and even then those stats are manipulated by the media to give false impressions.

Agreed when it comes to hating "California" on the whole. Its not most of the state you have to worry about, at least not by land area. Its the densely populated areas that are the problem. They control the state. The state of "Jefferson" and/or splitting the state into three new states looks to fix this, but those efforts can't get off the ground. You can guess why.

That they do. Reference my earlier comments as to why.

My wife and I moved from California to AZ just last month, after having lived there since the early 90s. We tried. We really did. But ultimately we learned the hard way that our voice and votes count for nothing, so the only thing we could do is vote with our feet, taking our tax dollars with us.
