I have a 2018 TRD and the chrome portion of the armrest is coming off. I believe it is from bug spray and suntan lotion when my leg touches it. Any ideas of how to fix it and should it be covered by the warranty?
    Thanks.

I know what you’re talking about. That gray area started to fade on the edges from my knee resting on it. I put some 3M clear protective tape on it LOL problem solved.

Thank you both. I’ll see if I can get it replaced and put the tape on it.

    Welcome from NY.
I think it should be covered under warranty.

That’s a different door panel than my 15. But I do have a silver strip in a similar location.

Maybe he meant 2008. Looks like a door panel from 2007-2013. If I were you I'd get on ebay and just buy a new trim piece. They aren't expensive. I think you can buy an entire door panel for about $100 on ebay.

Yeah, that's from a 2nd Gen. He must have meant 2008. My Rockwarrior had the same wear pattern in the exact same place.

I'm pretty sure it was from my manspreading.

It is a painted surface that resembles Chrome.
You are correct the chemicals in suntan lotion and bug spray deteriorated the painted surface. It is more so the sun tan lotion.
There really isn't a good fix. Replacement is your best bet
It will be tough to prove its a "manufacturing defect" vs. wear and tear.
Due to how new your truck is, they may cover it on good faith
The good news is Toyota covers more warranty than any other OEM.
