Pathetic place America is turning into. I used to joke about people filing "hurt feeling reports" 10-15 years ago. Skin is getting thinner. You don't like something, then don't watch it, listen to it, eat it, buy it....don't ruin it for everyone else.

In the words of Michael Savage.....hold on not trying to get banned today.

This is bullshit, I can't believe what my America has come to. Ray Bradbury warned us about this and now the government is stopping us from listening to our favorite holiday rape songs.
Oh wait a minute this wasn't about the Library of Congress removing it from the archives or the NSA surreptitiously deleting it from our computer or even local municipalities writing resolutions condemning the playing of it. This was a private company making a business decision, in other words the exact definition of the free market at work. Nope I don't believe it, damn the man.

Check the version that you listened to, because if you don't get date rape out of it, seek mental help now. If you have a daughter, have a conversation with her about coercion and having something slipped into her drink. Ask your mom, sisters, and other females in your life about sexual assault.

Musically the song is beautiful, but if you pay attention it is kind of gross. As someone else said some artists make subtle changes, so that it is less rapey.
With that said, listen to it as much as you want. In this country you have that right and no one can stop you, but don't freak out when other people choose not to, because that is their right.

TC long travel. Deaver 420 SU leaf packs.
Actually yes, here at least. It was assigned reading for my daughter last semester. I feel lucky about where I live. The school librarians are able to encourage kids to read "banned" books. "Banned" books are advertised in the library in an alluring fashion and they even have a banned books week where kids are challenged to read as many as possible in a week.

Maybe this specific instance isn't the govt. It doesn't even need to be the govt. The captain is mainstream media and pop culture. The govt isn't steering the ship, they're simply taking queues.

Group think and "movements" can have an affect on policymakers, because they need to pander to what's popular. That's the scary part. America has become so hyper sensitive yet so dumbed down at the same time.

The issue is the group think in general. The song is what it is. I will tag on what some others have said, listen to some pop/rap/garbage from the last 3-5 years, then tell me this song is a problem.

    Good job with the whataboutism.
Again, private companies are making business decisions based upon their target audience in order to maximize profit. I'm sure in this specific instance their marketing department probably made a conscious decision about generating controversy to get publicity.

Really? Hard to believe you have never heard it. Seen the movie Elf? I believe it's Dean Martin version that is a classic.

I believe a lot of people like the older versions, the are called "Classics". Many of the classics form artist that are not around anymore. These classics remind us of simpler times and days of our younger years. Doesn't sound like you are into the Holiday very much........

I heard some rumblings about this song last year, guessing it didn't get much traction then. Thin-skinned SnowFlakes got busy earlier this year. I swear their skin is getting so thin their bones will start poking through.............
