Installing component speakers and this happened......

    Hey guys, I was installing component speakers and I was removing some of the old electrical tape and like an A HOLE I nicked this purple wire. Now my window won't work. I'm assuming I shorted it. Would cutting that small section out and butting the connections fix the problem, or any other ideas in general?

    You can do that. But I would probably just fix the fuse after protecting the nick in the jacket. You didn’t cut all the way through you just messed up the coating. I have some stuff at work it’s similar to rubber cement but it’s liquid 3M tape. I would probably smear a small amount on it and then protect it with electrical tape. Then wrap the whole bundle together and it should be good.

    Probably better! Smear a little silicone in the crack and wrap it with tape. Good to go. I use the 3m stuff when repairing copper wires that feed irrigation valves in the field. It’s a sticky mess LOL, lately I have just been soldering the wires and wrapping with tape or heat shrink. It’s all low-voltage stuff.

    OP as long as you protect the copper wires from shorting out on anything you should be good. The only reason you blew the fuse is because you hit it with something sharp and metal, grounding it out.

    I used that liquid stuff and it worked very nicely. Replaced the fuse and all is well. Thanks guys!
