12 Volt Connections

Hello!

I am a new owner and curious about something. In my 2019 Crewmax, there is only one USB connection in the front. I have my iPod connected there and the audio system of the truck picks it up perfectly. I don't like have the cords and device visible, though. In my Silverado, I had a USB in the center console compartment, but all that resides there in the Tundra is a 12v connection.

My question is this: If I have a 12v device that I plug into it that has a USB slot and I plug my iPod into that, will the truck audio system recognize it as it does the upfront USB, or will it only charge my device?

Only charge. I just use Bluetooth with my iPod. Works well.
