Yep, it was the most solid vehicle ever made, MAN! No frills, but i also filled the bed with gravel to the sides, hauled it no problem. Well, maybe not no problem, but it hauled it!

I put the 22re in my first 4 runner through some shit.... poor truck...ended up loading a 12 trailer with a pallet of 4*8 plywood and about 60 2*4*12's ended up towing it in low because it wasn't happy in high... 30mph across town SUCKED! And it was at that point I started looking for my tundra

Nice! Yep, the 91 lead to my 2007 Tacoma (my first brand new vehicle), which I traded in for my 2005 Tundra with 110,000 miles on it. No regerts!

I would think toyota is going to go with the v6 with twin turbos and 8 or 10 speed autos. I wish the would put a 7 speed manual behind the 5.7!! I would trade tommorow!!

Just a thought. My dad had an old muscle car (69 charger). I remember that he said he went 45 mph in 1st gear. I think that the gear ratio is more important than having more gears in a tranny. I.e. I have to change gears in my honda every 5-10 mph. At 35 mph I am in 4th gear. What's funny too is that I am at 3000rpm at 70 mph. If it had an overdrive gear I would get way better gas mileage. My 2004 honda that I sold was the same exact car and a had manual transmission as well, and it got better mpg because it was at roughly 2500rpm at 70mph. Like I told @Thegr8punkin the older cars got better mpg. .
