I think that Toyota will stick to 5.7 with new tranny 8 or 10 gears

The 5.7 with 8spd gets exactly zero mpg better than the 6spd on the land cruiser 200. Unless D4S or Hybrid makes it significantly more efficient it could be not long for this world.

I fully expect the premium engine option to be the 3.5 TT D4S V6 out of the Lexus LS500.

I hope the Tundra gets the 3.5L V6 Twin Turbo from the LS500, that would help out with gas mileage a little bit as well as some tuning potential. Long shot.

More gears = more frequent and noticeable downshifting. I'm fine with the 6-speed automatic in my 5.7 V8.

I think it’d be cool to see it turbo 4.6 L.
No thanks on a six or four cylinder turbo in a full-size truck. Only if it was a diesel.

I bet it would get even better gas mileage if you keep your foot out of it. Same thing with the 4.6 L being slightly better in mpg. Also it would have less of that gutless feel down low.

Why do Ford and Chevy think a 2.7 is a good idea. It’s a frigging truck for fucks sake

My bet would be a smaller V6-turbo/hybrid to meet the emission standards of 2025.

I can’t imagine that you’d be able to tow or haul much with a 4-banger turbo.

I test drove a 2.7 F150 with the 10spd before buying my tundra and honestly I liked it but the reliability and longevity of the tundra is what swayed me in the end but boy would I love to get 23-26mpg in the tundra lol

Maybe they can produce the all New Chevy Sprint Truck with 3 cylinders. Then the Smart Car will retaliate with a Smart Truck that can haul a whole entire wheel barrow full of dirt.

The 2025 epa fleet standards is 50.8 mpg (was 52-54 mpg). All manufactures are going to need better fuel economy 1/2 ton trucks (under 10000 lb GVWR) and can't rely on EV/hybrid cars only anymore to meet this standard.

Colorado just adopted this standard. Colorado has a good portion of vehicles are trucks of all sizes. This is why I’m getting comfy DD a car....until I can move.

@Thegr8punkin Yeah that was a good car, I agree. Funny how the older vehicles actually got better mpg. My Civic SI would get 38-40 mpg and I could go thru 2 ft of snow without any issue.

Yup. Crazy how that works... I drive my Matrix like a Dick too much to really know what kind of gass mileage it gets when I'm not on it. But on it it gets high 20s.... that metro though... man 40+ easy and then you could hyper mile on top of that and get in to the 50s

I drove through Tahoe/Carson City in my '91 Toyota pickup in February, 2' of snow, no chains, 2wd. No power steering, no air, regular cab, but MAN I loved that truck! Spent a week in Death Valley sleeping in the back of it.
