For those of us that live in cold climates; how cold does it have to be for you to want to let your truck warm-up, and when you do—how long do you let it warm up for?

How cold are you talking about? Outside or garage kept truck? Block heater

There’s a few threads on this. Really, just drive it normal until operating temps.
Personally, in CO I let it warm up a bit so it’s warm inside before I get in lol

Unless I have ice on the glass, I just hop in and go. It'll warm up in about 4 miles.

I’m not in a cold climate but I typically let it warm up for one minute. And then drive really easy until it warmed up. When I’m up in the mountains in the cold, I do two minutes with giving it a little rev here and there. As long as the window is defrosted I just take it easy.

If its in the 30's or lower. or icy, I'll hit the remote start before I hit the shower and its toasty when I hop in. I mainly got the remote start to help with windshield icing. Its warm in a mile or two if I just hop in most days.

Clear glass with no fogging, drop into 4th (S) and drive smoothly until the temp gauge moves. All systems should be good to go at this point.

Never really gets below 30° in South Texas so i just wait until idle settles down after startup, which varies based on outside temp. Usually no longer than 2 to 5 mins.

Around here when it gets into the low 20's and below I let it warm up for a few minutes. The garage is not heated.

Speaking of warmup, are anyone else's brakes pretty loud first thing? It's pretty embarrassing, brand new truck and the brakes are creaky as shit.

Y’all get more icey conditions out in Aurora? That’s pretty much the Great Plains, right?

I have a very thin layer of ice today on my windshield...heh..heh. Certainly on the edge of the Great Plains and 8 miles from downtown Denver. It can get icey here. Some winters are worse than others. My previous post was more to do with my time up in Anchorage 2011/2012. Worst winter on record up to then. Bad timing on my part. Each morning I'd start the engine of my 09 Taco. Clear snow, chip off ice. As soon as I could see safely I'd head to work. Didn't take long for things to warm up once on my way. Same with my Tundra.

I got recruited by a single university out of high school, they sent me a packet saying I was already admitted - no need to apply.

That university was the University of Alaska, Anchorage. I was intrigued but some of the pictures from the dead of winter made me waiver. I love snow, and love skiing, but that looked inundating. Poor guys probably have a hard time getting out-of-state students.

As soon as temps are below freezing my truck’s blockheater gets plugged in. I start it and let it run while brushing/scraping it off. Then drive gentle for the first few kilometers.
