Installed the LED backup lights I saw on this thread a few days ago.... boy do they make a difference. Also did the wireless charging mod. A coping saw works really well for the plastic where you mount your wireless charger.

Hey Mike. Not speaking from experience on that specific part, but I do have some experience on the differences of regular paint vs powder coat. It's been my experience that the powder coat will almost always adhere and last longer than non p.c. paint.

A couple of the biggest differences is due to the process of powder coating, how it's actually baked onto the metal, it is also much thicker when applied. I want to say regular paint is around .8" in average thickness where powder coat is like 3-4 times more thick around .33" thick.

In the rare instances where this does not hold true, that the p.c will hold up better to flaking and chips is when the prep process is failed. I have seen both paints flake and fall off. Usually when this happens on p.c. it's because stuff like rust has not been fully removed or something similar.

Take my flare rivets for example. I prepped the hell out them and hit with multiple coats of rattle can. Despite doing a pretty good and thorough job both prepping and painting not long after I noticed imperfections forming like chips and flakes from rocks and washing. After I had my guy powder coat them to this day they look perfect, the same as when I first put them on. The rattle can had trouble even holding up to just tightening them in with a screwdriver. The p.c. no problems tightening, washing, flaking, or chipping from road debris.

Hope this helps you decide. If the cost difference is not too much more, which it shouldn't, if it was me I'd go p.c all day long. That or linex or rhino or raptor liner, all good options. Good luck.

Did you mean .08” (paint) vs .33” (pc)? But a third of an inch sounds quite thick for pc. Maybe 1mm vs 3mm? That sounds more realistic

But my main concern was the chrome. I was considering getting my chrome bumper ends paint matched but since they are chrome I was going to order the plastic ones.

I think I’ll have better luck paint matching the factory color vs finding a pc that will match. But I could be wrong

Yes my bad, u are correct in what you thought I meant.

I could be wrong on this too, but I'm pretty sure if you can find a good p.c. guy he can knock the chrome right off your OEM parts down to bare metal as part of the prep process. Once he has the chrome stripped to bare metal I'm pretty sure he can match with p.c with the same level of accuracy that you could with regular paint. Since it's metal it might even end up matching better to the other metal parts of your truck. That's why so many people have a hard time paint matching their grill surrounds, since its plastic it's hard to match to the hood. Save yourself the money from having to order plastic bumper ends and put that toward a reputable p.c. guy. I'm pretty confident he can get it to match just as good, if not better than the plastic ends and plus you'll have the benefit of it being more structurally sound being metal and it will hold up better to things like rock chips, other road debris, and scratches. The key is getting a solid referral to a good honest p.c guy, worst case is he will tell you no, then you got your other option of buying the plastic ends in your back pocket. That's just my advice of what I would do if it was me. Hope it helps. Good luck either way

If I recall correctly, u can look back in the thread, I'm thinking I've come across a couple members who have done what I'm throwing out there and it looked great.

Awesome I might call some powder coaters first and see what they say about the chrome and the matching!

Busy weekend of mods (most found while reading this forum)

Replaced amp and door speakers. Used a Rockford dsr-1 and a 5 channel cadence amp. Front door and side dash speakers got Cadence 3-way components and rear doors matching 2-way components. Replaced sub with a kicker comp be in the stock box. Sounds WAYYY better.

    Next up was FRAC install

Then I added Bilstein 5100’s up front.

Finally she got a bath with a foam canon and CG products.

U-pol recommends scuffing with 180 when applying to painted surfaces, chrome I can't say, but probably wouldn't hurt to spray it with a couple coats of etching primer after scuffing it. I'm in the process of rebuilding a 20' flat bed trailer and decided to use the raptor liner on it rather than paint it again. The local shops quoted me around $400 to spray the frame, it cost me less than $250 buying all the materials and the Raptor liner kit. Their kit can be rolled on or sprayed. I was kind of worried about spraying it, but after a couple videos and a couple quick test sprays to adjust and get the texture I wanted, it came out great. I would recommend it to just about anyone. Ignore the splotchy look on the back of the fender in the second pic, I had just finished spraying and it wasn't completely dry yet in that pic.

Sounds good that's what I would do if me. I'm thinking if prepped good the p.c. to metal after the chrome is blasted off will adhere better and last much longer. Plus it'll probably be cheaper than buying the plastic ends. Good luck, hope my suggestion works out for ya.

I ended up buffing in the wax addict tyre conditioner I applied the other day to give it a more non wet but new look to the tires. Judging from my tread depths looks can be deceiving. Looks like a brand new tire but will need replacing before next winter.

Oh yeah had to stop and get a drink like usual. We all know you can pass by other vehicles on the road with great speed, but you can't pass a gas station without needing to buy the ol gal a drink. To ease the pain, it posed for me, and reminded me that despite the pain of around 100 bucks to fill up, it is all worth it when you look this good.

Tnx Ron, I gotta admit, being anal plays a big part. On my way to water school I had to make a quick detour over to my parents house to wash a giant bird shit off my front hood not too long before this pic. I stared at it the whole ride there, even more than the road, because it bothered me so much.

Man, all of your adds suck! Some thoughtful person gave me the greatest add over night Wednesday. This nice ~6.5" scratch!!!!! I have found it makes my Tundra 30% more aerodynamic, chicks desire my truck and consequently me more, it also helped me with my rage moments. I literally found that because of this, I had a Zen like peace fall over me and I paid no attention to the fact that I didn't even have my Tundra 30 days and someone did this. Cold air intake? Pfft. Lift kit? Pahshaw. Autostart? I live in Minnesota, why would I want to add that? A scratch!!! Now that's what I wanted.

Thanks for letting me vent in advance. Seeing that yesterday had me in a rage blackout for the day.
