Finally got some good front brake pads.

I purchase some Brembo brake pads that were terrible after the second day, the rims were so nasty with brake dust. So I decided to get another brand of brake pads and they are actually much better than the brembos. I will send pictures to those that are interested of getting some good brake pads. Also these trucks have got to be the easiest to change your brake pads it literally took me 30 to 45 minutes to change.

 

I've heard nothing but good about those.

 

I haven't found any brake pads that work better than the Toyota OEM's, they are clean, quiet and wear well. With that said, I am still open to try another pad, the OE's are so expensive.

 

Akebono pads are incredibly well made and work even better.

 

Bouncing this thread as I'm shopping some brakes.

This Brembo pad/rotor kit looks like a pretty good deal at $169. Do folks still recommend them or should I stick with OEM?

I just put some PowerStop pads (for towing) on my fronts reusing the newer existing rotors (brand?) and some MK Kashiyama (NAPA $90) shoes on the rears with original drums. Highly recco!

Did a total upgrade/rebuild. Everything is quiet and clean so far. I used SilGlyde on everything in the right places which eliminated a reverse brake squeal from the rear drums. Seems like a dying art to lube pins and contact points from reading old timers comments. You can feel a difference on the fronts with the lube which totally eliminated that sometimes from stop to low speed shudder back to stop with release of pedal.

Also used high dolla Toyota Sham Wow! brake shims on the front calipers. Woooweee!
