2006 DC riding rough

    So I just bought a 2006 DC 4x2 V8 w 193k miles, because I needed the extra space and truck bed. I sold my mint 2010 FJ (70k miles) and bought a truck with the profits. (It's nice not having a car note).

    My issue is it rides SO rough. I don't know if that's just how these trucks are, or something's wrong. My FJ was no Cadillac, it was pretty bumpy. But this truck sound like it's gonna come apart when going over train tracks. The roads are pretty terrible where I live and I have to drive them everyday. I went under the truck today and I think the suspension is stock. There were no name brand black shocks all around.

    I'm looking for way to make this truck more comfortable. It's not a show truck but it's definitely a pavement pounder. I don't plan on going offroad or jacking it up. I just put some new road tires on it and it rides a little better, but what else to do or look for?

    I would also like to level the front end because I think it looks silly. I gather Bilstein 5100s are the way to go, I'm considering that. But I don't get how they will lift the front? They are just shocks right? The front of my truck has coilovers, so i'll need new springs right? Are the shocks for offroad use or city driving? Thinking about adding a rear sway to help with body roll too.

    P.S.- there also this clunk after I brake hard and re-accelerate. My FJ did it, but if you greased the impeller shaft it would go away. Is that something similar? It kinda feels like a tranny/tourque converter issue.

    I did the Billys recently on the next up from stock height setting. They work great for city driving. A firm sporty feel is what its like. Only off-road I do is sand. They do great for towing.

    The Billys utilize your existing front coils. My 4x4 02’ has a front sway bar that was reconnected when it was serviced during major front end work. New everything suspension wise up front plus the shocks. The sway bar reconnect really firmed up the sway roll. Not sure about adding a rear but others here swear by them. I think the front bar works good enough for me. In your case being 4x2 your model did not come with it like mine with TRD package. My 02’ has 159k on it. You might need to redo your front suspension/bushings/lower ball joints/lower control arms/etc. to tighten everything back up to original ride quality.
