Newbie from WNC/SC

Hello all! Just picked up my new (18) Tundra yesterday. She's Barcelona Red, 5.7, 4wd, SR5, with the 6.5 bed. No mods yet other than installing two gun magnets in the console lid. I have a dog hammock for the rear seat on order (my Boxers go everywhere that I go) and a set of threshold protectors on the way. Next will be a Thule TracRac rack as I'm an avid kayaker. I'm still in the planning stages of where to mount my mobile Ham radio, it's a modular radio so I'm thinking that I can mount the main unit under the drivers seat. Just feeling around under there seems to indicate that there's a ideal bracket already there!
About me: I'm 58, I own a small metal fab shop in Asheville, NC, and we have a getaway place on a small lake in Laurens County, SC. The wife and I are in the process of building a small, rustic, retirement home there.
I'm a Harley guy, a gun guy (huge Ruger fan), enjoy fishing/hunting, kayaking/boating, ham radio, and assisting my grandsons in getting into trouble. Had a third or forth childhood a few years back that involved a bit of land speed racing on motorcycles. I'm a hobby junkie, but the biggest hobby is buying and selling anything and everything through the classifieds, that's how I fund the other hobbies.

So there it is, TMI probably...LOL!

Welcome aboard, love the Asheville area, we have a plant in Arden and I'm due a visit up there since they opened the Sierra Nevada brewery.
I'm in Greenwood, what lake you on Rabon or Lake Greenwood?

 

Boyd's Mill Pond, about 3 miles west of Rabon, just off of hwy 252. We love it there! No restrictions, VERY quiet, full of fish, and great neighbors. We have 2 lots side by side, have a camper with addition on one, building the cabin on the other. Love it down there...the people are like they used to be here in Asheville (many years ago). Still love Asheville, but the plan is to live in SC all but July and August...spend those in Asheville. I retire in 3 years and can't wait!
I do a lot of work for all the local breweries...free samples are a bonus....LOL!

Nice, know exactly where Boyd's Mill Pond is, cut up that road going to Simpsonville some times, great little spot.
So when you come down come on over to Abbeville and get the best cheeseburger you ever had at Cold Springs Cafe, Mennonite place, great meat and 3, google them, you'll find it.

Yeah, Asheville ain't the same as it was like 20 years ago.

I replaced an 07 F-250 5.4 gas. It's a good truck, and only 123k on the clock, but I was ready for something new and a "little" better gas mileage. The 9900# tow rating was the biggie for me. We plan to do some Great Loop boat cruising on either a C Dory 25 or a Rosborough 246 if retirement $$$ allows. They weigh about 6k loaded, so the Tundra should be plenty of truck.
