Silly TRD Pro suspension question...

If the TRD Pro is supposed to sit 2” higher than other Tundras, what would it take to LOWER the truck? Just a spring change?

I will never go offroad at all...the most I would crawl over is a curb at the local bike shop. Lowering it would also help getting my dog into the truck.

Looking at lowering it around 3” front and read (so technically 1” lower than a standard Tundra)

 

Why buy a pro then?

 

Your better off selling your suspension plus trade for a stock tundra suspension then lower that. You will be destroying the ride on those and they probably won’t last long at that height.

 

Probably the easiest way would be to trade with me.

If you want it lower so the dog can get in easier, why not build or buy some kind of platform that aids the dog into stepping up into the truck and then put the platform in the bed. Trying to lower it with the current suspension isn't going to work well, there's a guy in the 3rd gen marketplace selling 2018 trd sport shock set, I would pick those up and then sell your pro parts if you want to go that route.

 

I just saw that..for $300, that’s a cheap experiment. I would just keep the pro suspension for when the truck goes back to stock.

You better keep the stock suspension or your resale value will be shite.

You could buy that 2018 sport suspension that's for sale right now.

If you wanna spend some money and be different get the trd lowering kit.

Personally I'd have gotten a platinum for the price though. You get so many more creature comforts. The big plus to the pro is the suspension, oh and the bed stamps

A good dog ramp is a nice solution

 

The Pro only sits 2" higher in the FRONT than other Tundras. If you wanna lower the entire truck 3" you'll need to sell the Pro stuff to break even with the cost of a 3" drop, I think

 

If it were me, I’d just buy or make a dog ramp.

 

this is thinking slightly outside the box, but I bet you could sell the TRD Pro without much loss, then buy a lower SUV / truck with better gas mileage and less offroad capability that would be better for the dog. Many other ideas mentioned previously might make more sense depending on your other needs.

Sadly, even big dogs get old and crippled. A ramp helps to keep you all mobile and still get out. Both the dogs we needed the ramp for have now died, but we kept the ramp

 

Sorry your dogs are gone. One of the hardest things I've ever done was put down my lab/ mutt when he got too old. It seemed cruel to let him go on.

 

I just pick my 80 lb dog up and put him in the truck.

No can do. Dog rides inside the truck with me.

Thought about selling the TRDP for about 10 seconds, but bailed on that idea. Wants outweighed by the needs.

Dog will get bigger...currently 5 months old and 35 lbs. will get up to around 65 lbs.

And I though people bought the TRDP for the color and the urethane steering wheel.

My English mastiff jumps in and out of my truck easy. That dog should have no trouble.

 

Very cute pup! I know well that sometimes you don't wanna have to pick up a dog to put 'em in the truck.

We've got an English Mastiff/Dane. She just steps into the lifted Tundra. Not really steps but not hard for her.

 

There are ramps on Amazon made for getting the dog into the cab of the truck...

 

I would go the dog ramp route.

But to lower a pro that’s blasphemy!!! Might as well sell it or trade it in for something that fits your need then.
