I'm putting in a new USB charger to replace the drivers side cig port under the radio. Just as I was about to solder the connection my hand hit a screwdriver that was laying on the seat and sent the screwdriver down into into the dark abyss of the center console. To make matters worse, this was one of those micro screwdrivers (about 6 inches long). I've tried digging around with my hands but that thing is no where to be found.

There's a plastic piece that sprawls across most of the space making it difficult for me to move my hands around. Can that plastic piece be removed or would it be easier to get one of those magnetic tip retrieval tools to see if I could fish it out? The plastic piece I'm talking about sits directly under the center console tray fascia.

    Any advice is much appreciated!

Are you referring to the center tray area around the shifter? That is very easy to remove and get access to.it doesn’t take but a few minutes to remove.

Pretty sure you can remove most of the center console parts without to much trouble.

Shouldnt be anything to worry about.

2nd that, if you have one. If not, by the time you go buy one you could have everything disassembled, and put back together. Even a kids magnet on a string might work for you.

All jokes aside, best bet is start carefully taking things apart. Look up how to remove the whole console on YouTube, that's what I would do.

I've lost plenty of small tools and bits of hardware into engine bays and the like, I normally consider them consumed and buy another.

I think they sell socket kits & forget to include the 10mm because the manufacturers themselves cant find their 10mm sockets

Harbor freight sells a telescoping magnet with a flexible head. I dropped a screw down there the other day and managed to get it out with it. 06865F2B-CFD9-4CD3-9733-DF87BFAE9563.jpg

I had a marble that somehow got in to the vents under the console that go to the rear floors. Could hear it rolling around. I tired to take the console apart but gave up. I just went to a country road, backed up as fast as it would go, and slammed on my brakes. Marble came out. Maybe if you can’t get to it, try to jar it loose by driving around.

Or it might get deeper in there.

Cause of this, I also found out the truck will only go about 10 mph in reverse.

You know you're old when you can remember manufacturers not including 1/2" sockets in their socket sets...;-)>
