That was fun. Great to meet you all.

Is there interest in a Joshua Tree trip in early November? I've never been and hear it's great.

@eccracer104 , sorry we couldn't meet up again. Sounds like you all ran into quite a bit of traffic out there.

I’m definitely open to Joshua Tree or even another Anza run. Hopefully the community can chime in on thoughts.

And new tires and keep one of my existing ones to replace my spare that's cut.

Sounds good to me! I know of a great spot that’s large enough to camp and accommodate as many Tundras as we want

Yeah, took longer than expected to get through, but you guys were faster than I expected! We’ll hit more dirt or grab a beer soon

I’m open for both as well

Dang, long list! Got an eta on when you’ll be trail ready?

Anza run would be nice as I am planning on going there in October. My first time there I didn't have enough time to even know where the heck I was going around there haha! As long as it's the weekend I don't work on, I'm in for the next one!

Based on my current calendar, it looks good. Although I would have to check with my best half so she doesn't schedule anything that will involve my truck.:p

Anybody else think this weekend can work for an Anza trip? If a different weekend works better, okay; just jumping in with a proposal for one that works for me. :D

:(. Anyway, don't worry yet. There's about 75% chance it'll be a different weekend in October ;). I just threw that date out, because it's the one that'd work best for me. :D I'm not the decider; just jumped in to get the conversation going.

I just feel it is needed to say something here since it was a tundra that I saw in SoCal.
Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

As I'm heading home last night from help a friend with car troubles I spot a truck swerving across the 101, speeding then slowing down and then nearly hit the center median then swerving back and nearly clipping the car in the next lane.

I proceeded to follow and call PD. At this time the truck has had their blinker on for about 3 miles. I watch as the truck makes 2 turns at a 2 stop lights with out stopping then clip another cars mirror.
I at this point stop following as soon as I see them park giving the dispatcher the location.

Shame on you ( I will not give a description of the Tundra to not give away who it may be).

Think of your family. Think of our families and the families of other people on the road. You're driving a nearly 4 ton wrecking ball that can easily kill someone.

Don't drink and drive. Don't drive when your tired. Don't drive impaired....

    Sorry for the soap box.

So... my thoughts on this are, if the week of Oct 12 - 14 works for others, I'll make the run up to Anza, join any run my truck and unsupported confidence can handle, and camp too.

But if another weekend works better (@5.7TRDProm can't make it Oct 12 - 14 and I'd like him to be able to join in a meet soon), I'll camp that weekend in my local Cuyamaca area... or maybe Palomar. If all goes well, it'll be our check-out voyage with a new RTT on The BFT.

Mentioning this in case it happens, now that we're growing in numbers, that it makes more sense... sometimes... to have more meets, smaller groups, closer to our homes... sometimes. As it happens, @Marty McFly and "Jen" likely cannot join us in October :( due to a pre-planned trip elsewhere :boink:... so it's not like we'll draw the usual THOUSANDS anyway. :D

Anyway, I supoort planning the next meet-and-play any weekend that works for others, and I'll either come along if I can make the dates work, or watch enviously via forum updates. Either way, this SoCal Tundras Play Group is a good, growing, fun thing, and I'll love to see that keep happening.

    Agree. :smack:

I don't even wanna drive off-road with someone that takes those kind of chances. A whole lotta difference between getting spotted to bet our Tundras one at a time on a stupid obstacle, and driving with disregard for everyone on a public roadway. :boom:

Matt it’s unfortunate that your joining the thread with some bad news. You seem like a good guy and should come join us on our meets some time.

I would love to. let me know when the next one is. I've come over from a 2015 4runner so it is certainly a different beast but I'm looking forward to getting my build started soon.

I've been getting to know a lot of Los Padres. And will be doing a trip to Coyote Flats in June next year.
Theres a few good camping spots and trails in the Santa Barbara area and between Taft and Ojai.

I never really considered Santa Barbara. I wonder if they have long trails. It would awesome to camp close to the beach after.

Theres a maze of trails up there. Most seem really easy but I've got found a few technical spots here and there some good spots for shooting if folks want to also.

@porkitt I'm not opposed to a little drive. Is there somewhere near Bridgeport? Twin lakes. Thats a pretty decent campsite. I just have very few weekends off
