Rust on Roof. Fix or Time to Upgrade?

Hi All,

I'm new to this forum and I am at a cross roads.

I have a 2006 DBL Cab SR5 4x4
Last year I noticed that my roof had a little rust spots on the roof. Over the last 6 months it has gotten considerably worse pics below.

My question is. Is it worth repairing or am better moving on up to a new tundra?

I'm at 130 000 miles and everything else seems to work great on the truck.

5-700 for a fix or 3-500 a month for 48-72 months...

 

I would say time for an upgrade, but that's just my opinion

 

Most likely started from rock chips. For rust like that I would get quotes from a Bodyshop . You only have 130,000 k so your truck is just broken in ! That's my opinion anyway !

 

Fix it. It's still a nice truck. Unless you just want a new truck. I'm looking looking for a good 4x4, if you decide to sell. If it was me I would fix and keep.

 

If there are other reasons (life, other mechanical issues, personal preference, etc.)to upgrade and it's feasible to do so, then I'd say upgrade. Personally, that rust alone wouldn't be sufficient justification to send me out into the market: fix 'er.

Get some masking tape, a grinder with a flappy wheel, some primer with anti-rust and some bed liner to top it with. Good to go for another 10 years.

 

Depends on if there's rust to the frame/ support structures. If not, you should sell it to me , and get a new one.

 

This is a 4 year old thread and the OP hasn’t been on here for a year.

 

Recently had 07 roof painted, some spots at windshield. A shop will want to pull winshield as well to repair correctly, or at least should. 50-50 windshield breaks, could end up with new one. 500ish for paint repair, maybe 200ish for windshield. Well worth repair if not wanting a new truck note.
