At random, I’ve notice my truck sometimes starting up funky. When it turns over, RPMs will jump up to 2,000 or so and then fall to about 500-ish almost instantly for a few seconds and then jump up another hundred or so to normal idling. Could this be caused my a dying battery? Is anyone else experiencing this with their trucks? My truck will be two years old in October. There’s no pattern as to when it does this. Sometimes first start of the day, it’ll hit 2,000 rpm and then slowing drop to normal idle range and other times it does this immediate drop almost to the point where it sounds like it might stall but then reaches a normal idle point.

My 2015 did that just before i traded it in. Very similar problem. Had 38k on it. Local Toyota dealer hooked me up with a free battery under warranty. Problem solved. Not saying its def your battery, but it was in my case.
