RCI in CO! Love my front skid plate. Beefy. Order thru ToyTec. Should be a discount. There usually is a lead time with RCI. A couple weeks.

Both RCI and Bud Built use 3/16 steel and full skids cost about the same. RCI is close to me and got a ToyTec discount! If you have the larger gas tank and want that skid......I like Bud Built design.

    FYI, 10 gauge steel isn't 3/16", it's about 9/64". So it's about 1.2mm thinner than Bud Built.

Yep...I missed that ! The Bud Built is beefier at 7gauge or 1875" vs .1406". RCI had a decent Labor Day sale last year.

    The thing
That's hard to pass up, especially if you end out going full stainless on that stage 3 w/all the options. The price difference is pretty huge.

Bud Built does have a lot of options that add more to the cost. I see Bud's on a lot of crawlers for good reason. My winch bumper steel is 3/16s. Had a brain fart.haha..

Funny this comes up just a few days after I decided on the RCI skid plate. I also ordered from Toytec using the forum discount.

Nothing wrong with 10 gauge steel. My front skid wasn't exactly light weight. Would take a serious rock hit to dent it and I like buying local small busuness if I can! A win win...(saves on shipping too!)

I goofed up...Bud Built is 3/16" and RCI uses 10 gauge or roughly 9/16". @Sas corrected me on this. Thanks @Sas!

I like my aluminum RCI. Looks clean. Will never rust.

Completely depends what you will do with your truck. I'm a mild offroader, I need my truck for many different things and can't afford to be without it, so it never really gets abused. The skid plate is just extra piece of mind for me. Now on my old 4runner I went all steel, but that vehicle was used for offroading, exploring, and crawling. I went aluminum on the Tundra because resistance to rust was the most important factor to me....and the oil filter door.

Do you realize 9/16” is more than a half inch thick?
Anybody using skids this thick is driving an armored vehicle or tank.

I saw a B1-B bomber at an air show years ago. The nose logo was "Home Improvement"...most certainly was I'm sure!

I'm hoping for the same sale this year! Patiently waiting for an announcement this week to pick up a front and trans skid.

I can't answer for the Tundra, but the F-150 I traded (2013 Super Crew) had full skids from RCI (Front, tranny, transfer, and Gas tank). I had the 10GA black powdercoat. They were thick and well-built. I never hit anything, but if I did, I probably would have destroyed whatever I hit.

I put a 900 lbs Liberty gun safe in my closet over the summer. I couldn't get it over my door threshold, so I used the trans skid plate, and it just rolled over it no problem and didn't do anything to it.

Too bad you don't have a pic of that gun safe move. RCI would like that .

Man, I didn't even think to take a picture of that. I rented a roll-a-lift, and my wife and I managed to get that thing in there with about 1/4" to spare on the door frame with the door off. It rolled over that skid plate no problem though. It was going to crush my poor little threshold.
