My truck came with the incredibly over priced chrome side steps. I didn't like them so I took them off. I like the way it looks without them, but the wife and kid complain about having to crawl in and out. I can have them spayed with spray on bed liner for about the same price as I can buy them in black on Amazon. I like the hooped style from N-fab, but they're too pricey. What do y'all think? This is with and without. 20180622_202153.jpg20180623_202320.jpg I'm eventually putting on some black wheels and am trying to get away from as much chrome as possible.

I have the oem running boards, mostly for winter protection to prevent snow being caked on the rockers.

had the predator steps on the Tacoma and that was just a snow accumulator (that turned into hard packed snow/ice).

I just took off NFABs and switched to the RB20s with the bedliner coating.

The NFABs are shin busters, plain and simple...look cool but don't execute very well.

Not sure how well Linex sticks to chrome...not much does...

    I vote for RB20s...

Already did. Not a warranty issue 5 years later. Bastards. Pour the cheapest concrete they can find and CO winters will kill a driveway if not done right. Both of my houses here in CO have had the same issue.

What are your plans with the truck? Off roading or family work truck? If going to off-road go get sliders. If not then you could go with anything. RB20's look nice as mentioned but could also check Craig's list for used steps that you might like and save a little money.

Not going to do much off roading. Just a little help into the truck. That's good to know about busting shins. Definitely don't want that. I was also worried about how the bed liner would stick to the chrome. Will probably just buy some black tubes off Amazon. I like the rhinos too but they're a little pricey. My next bigger purchases will be wheels and BA muffler.

Thanks. Once HOA starts to complain I'll do something. Until then, will remain a potential homeowner's insurance claim LOL

For the family I would put some steps on. Sell the chrome and go from there. I have the Iron Cross HD, which I like. I also like the look of those Go Rhino RB20's.

I use the black plastic OEM running boards in the winter term and my Iron Cross HD's when there is no salt on the roads.

3 cans of big box spray in liner ($21) should be an easy diy project for ya! Stuff looks and works amazing. Send me a check for saving you money. Thanks in advance.

I had my chrome steps sprayed with LineX for the same reason about 6 months ago—no problems so far and it really helps with slippage.

But you could make it a DIY project as well and save the $$. If it fails, then spend the money on new steps.

Found some black ovals on Amazon for $90. Probably going to go that route. Thanks for the input.
