Last week I got rear ended on the freeway on my way to work. I was dead stopped, and a girl in a Nissan Sentra hit me at about 60 MPH.
It was very loud, my truck got pushed about 20 feet, luckily the cars in front of me had time to move so I didn't get pushed into anyone else. I didn't want to get out and look at the damage, but after a minute or two I did, and was shocked at the minimal damage to the truck, and the total destruction of her car. I say great job Toyota, this could have been much worse!

    I'm glad you're okay!! :amen:

No matter how good that looks, I hope you're takin' your Tundra in to check for unseen damage, such as frame, brakes, get an alignment, etc. Mostly though, I'm glad you're okay!!! (And thanks for sharing your good fortune with the rest of us; we love reading good examples of how awesome our trucks are!)

That will still cost about $1500 for a new bumper I am guessing. The wife backed into a DQ pole concrete base and just dented the chrome bumper, cost $849 for a whole new one with hardware installed.

EDIT : crap forgot to add, that was on a 2012 Tacoma TRD TX Edition.

EDIT 2 : son did the same thing on his dodge avenger, and that cost a whopping $2400 for a rear bumper since it was a whole 1 piece item across the rear.

My friend drives a 15 Tundra, he got rear ended on a road trip. Roughly the same amount of damage to his bumper. The Silverado that hit him fared much, much worse.

My '07 was rear ended by a Gen 3 Tundra while stopped at the light exiting the dealership. There was no noticeable damage to either truck, but I did get whiplash and bruising from the seat-belt.

Thanks for the responses. Girl was a little banged up but ok. I suffered a mild concussion, and my neck is still a little sore but otherwise ok.
I have a good friend with a body repair shop, so he will be doing repairs. I will have him check for frame damage. From what I can see it will be a new bumper, and hitch. I'm still surprised it was not more extensive. Thank God I was in a Tundra!

    Glad everyone was ok.

I'm pretty sure she was not even close to 60 mph when the impact happened.

I'm fine but now I have to deal with his insurance which I'm looking forward to. First wreck in 11 years of driving and of course it happens to the vehicle I like most

Well, we were doing 75 and at the accident scene there were only 5 feet of skid marks........could of been less I suppose but the fact it pushed a heavy Tundra so far I would guess I'm pretty accurate. Thank you for the kind words.

Glad everyone was ok. Might be a good time to consider an aftermarket bumper if you had ever considered it before. That girl got real lucky. Hopefully she bought a lotto ticket!
