Ok so my tag finally came in today for my tundra. I'm a ham radio operator and wanted the "amateur radio" tag my state offers so I had to wait for it to be mailed to me. Well as I went to put the tag on I was expecting some metric bolts to be present to hold the tag. This was not the case! It was a 10mm head but the thread was just a basic lag bolt style. The material it screws in to was all plastic and not the metal I am used to on almost all Toyota's I've ever seen. What's up with that? Is this normal? I was unable to get the bolt tight enough to feel confident it won't come loose so I will be getting some long machine bolts that can go through the hole to the other side and use lock nuts or lock washers to be able to tighten it up properly. Anyone else have this issue?

On a clear day, I can see Seattle from my house.

My 2010 front bumper had a couple dimples in the plastic where those screws go. Not very secure that way.
Rear plate mounting was better. Still into plastic inserts, but better.

Luckily Mississippi only has rear tags. I'm talking about the rear seems like just plastic.
