    Hey All,

Excited to join the Tundra Family. Coming from a 2016 Tacoma Limited (below). Taco was my dream truck and loved it to bits, but too many times found myself running into space and power issues. Have just picked up a 2018 TRD DC Sport (below) and will be doing a similar build to the Taco.

    Tundra.jpg

So far I've ordered Blackout badges, Console organization, and Canopy with tracks (have a Tepui RTT).

Next up will be swapping my Lightbar, Tires, Rims, Lift**, and considering leather seat package up front

**I see yes you can lift, and no you can't lift - Any insight would be greatly appreciated.**

    Cheers from the PNW.

Nice truck! I didn't know that you can get a TRD Sport in a DC, I have only seen them in CM.

I struggled with CM vs DC. In the end storage in the bed was more important and rare that I have 4-5 people in the cab. We have less options in Canada but TRD Sport in DC didn't seem like an issue to get.

I also had a 2013 Tacoma and I loved everything about it besides it being a standard cab. I traded it in for my Tundra for the size and power. I miss having it as a daily commuter.

we swapped from our 3rd gen Tacoma to a tundra platinum crewcab. biggest issue was interior space for the dogs.

that was the only reason we swapped, otherwise the Tacoma was a better option. after almost a year the cost per day is the hardest part of the tundra.

we average $1.78 per day (.13 cents a mile) on the Tacoma and so far $6.78 per day (.23 cents a mile) on the tundra for fuel costs.

1st pic is the Tacoma, 2nd pic is the Tundra.

as you can see we have already matched the fuel cost in 35 fill ups in 7 months on the tundra compared to the Tacoma at 50 fill ups in 25 months.

Your math isn't working out too well. The Tundra gets 1-2 mpg less than a Tacoma. It should in no way be more than tripling your fuel costs.

its does when you avg 16.6 in the tacoma vs 11.1 in the tundra.

I am not going by the window numbers but actual mpg that I get.

You're also calculating much different prices for gas in those tables you posted, as well as different daily distance. You can't compare oranges to grapes. All else must be equal to get anything accurate out of your calculations to draw accurate comparisons.

There is no way you averaged 29 mpg in the Tacoma. 18716 miles / 632 gal = 29 mpg. Your chart shows you averaged 16.6 mpg. Something is wrong with the numbers somewhere.

oh wait it seems fuelly has lost some inputs from oct-15, 2016 to sep-26, 2017 on the Tacoma...

wtf, now I have to go find out were the hell the inputs went to.

    apparently fuelly shows oct-15, 2016 @ 10,202 miles then jumps to sep-27, 2017 @ 17,486 miles.

freaking lost a whole year of data somehow.

if I recalc the mileage missing, I come down to 11,240 miles across 632 gals = 17.78 mpg.

    sold mileage was :18,724
    2017 start mileage : 17,486
    2016 end mileage : 10,202

    18,724 minus 17,486 plus 10,202 = 11,240 / 632 gals = 17.78 mpg
